I did not anticipate our desired date being booked already. So disappointed.....

It will be difficult to find venues with availability less than a year out, especially for the fall. If the date is important to you, I would lead with that when contacting venues.

Before you visit any venues make sure you give them your date so they can let you know before you go. Sorry you had a bad day.

I did when I contacted them and set the tours I let them know exactly what date I wanted. I really think when they called to confirm they should’ve informed me the date I wanted was no longer available.

That is so frustrating! I think the venue assumed that the date was negotiable (even tho you told them the date previously) A lot of couples change their date for the right venue. I'm praying for you to find a great venue for the date you want!

So sorry, that’s unfortunate. I went to visit one venue I really liked and was my second choice. He did the whole 45 minute consultation and then said, “oh sorry you’re date is no longer available. Someone booked 10 minutes before you’re appointment.”
I would lead with seeing if you’re date is still available otherwise more letdowns might come.
Something will come up for you and your day will be beautiful. Happy hunting!

It definitely makes so much sense to choose your date based on what your preferred venue has available. If you are set on a specific date, you are likely going to have to be far less picky about venue.

This is why many people say you don't actually have a date until you have a venue booked.

Most definitely they should. Now at least you know and next time I would call before I go to confirm again that your date is open. You will find the perfect place I’m sure. Good luck !

We found our venue !! We ended up moving the date to one day after so on a Sunday instead of a Saturday and it was also cheaper.

We chose our date (Nov 14th, 2020) in September 2019 as it was the only date left for our for 2020. It's rough planning! We asked their availability before we set out to meet because I was worried about loving something that wouldn't fit our timeline. Congratulations on the engagement though!
