Was anyone else's wedding day not-so-perfect?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Several things went wrong. The ceremony music got goofed a little. It stormed REALLY bad to the point there was hail, tornado warning and it flooded a little at the entrance of the hall (yikes) and the reception hall had a lot of glass and the "emergency room" was a mostly glass room. It was a very interesting event.

With weddings, things will go wrong. It's up to you to say, this is minor, I am not going to let it ruin my day. At the end if the day, if you are married, then it was a success.

For my first marriage, I almost didn't make it. My car broke down at the hair dressers and I had to wait almost 2 hours for a AAA tow truck. After a very quick change into my gown, the limo arrived with a seriously drunk chauffeur. Made it to the church with moments to spare and after the ceremony realized none of the drivers for the WP cars (friends not hired) had made it into the church. Nope they decided to blow off the ceremony and get drunk with the limo driver (from his stash in the passenger seat). The reception venue had our bridal and WP cars towed (they "forgot" we were up earlier in the day to park them so we had rides home) and my uncle hit on every woman at the reception... including my MIL.

Can't say I really enjoyed the drama that day ... but I certainly do laugh about it now

Hmm lets see ... On our wedding day the temp. in Buffalo, NY broke a 125 year record as the hottest day ever (it was 98, full sun, no clouds or breeze at all lol) so we were all sweating & sooooo hot ... Our church doesn't have AC and they forgot to turn on the fans at the alter (until my sister made them 1/2 way thru our ceremony)!! Our officiant wouldn't allow the videographer to mic my DH so nobody really heard us & she also wouldn't let the photographers & videographers stand in certain spots & was actually waving her hands at them through-out our whole ceremony lol!! We were running late with hair & makeup so we missed a lot of photos I wanted to get. Nobody really used the photo/video booth b/c they didn't know where it was lol ... Oh & I wish I ate/drank & danced more!! Clearly these are totally not major things & every wedding has bumps & things you wish went different ... I still think we had the most perfect day even with all these little things Smiley smile

OMG and I can't forget my uncle getting super drunk, starting a fight with guests & my Mom thus causing him to get kicked out (about an hour before the reception ended - He almost made it all the way to the end lol). Fun stuff Smiley smile

That is exactly what I think! I think that the crazy imperfections in weddings can be what make them!

Well mine was great but when I came to pics not what I wanted. My makeup artirst go about 1 1/2 hours late therefore we weren't ready till after the schudule time. For this reason we had to take pics at the venue and now where I originally wanted. Then my MIL kept taking pics on her own which meant delaying the photographer there fore we didn't get that many pics. The one thing I regret the most is that I didn't get any pics with my parents...

I don't expect my wedding day to be perfect. I'm not perfect, so it's all good. I'm in the beginning stages and already decided I will roll with the punches. Although, I would prefer not to have anything over the top happen. I'm already expecting a few snags, but I figure if they don't happen I will be pleasantly surprised.

I was a bit hungover, as were many of the WP and guests. The party before us at the RD spot refused to leave when their reservation was over, so we had to wait around for an hour. The restaurant gave us free wine, so by the time we sat down to dinner we were all too tipsy to really eat.

My dress had ridiculously tiny buttons and it took all five BMs to get me in there. Plus the buttons kept getting stuck.

Two of the guests were late and entered the ceremony on my cue...so imagine flustered people walking into a room to 'here comes the bride' while everyone gawps!

My mom forgot to stay for photos after the ceremony and my BM's dad had to go retrieve her.

A BM decided the reception was the perfect venue to get in a sobbing argument with her boyfriend/boss, and continued to create scenes for the rest of the evening.

Did I mention I was hungover? So a bit dehydrated and bloated? Well, in some of the pics I have serious backfat. Like I had a buttcrack on my back. Smiley smile

So sometimes I wish I hadn't included Sobby Sally in my wedding party, and had perfect pictures with no buttback issues, but overall I had a wonderful day. And, plus, it all makes for great stories!

In the middle of the ceremony when I married my 1st husband (divorced now), when we were exchanging rings, my FH dropped my ring, it bounced of the tip of the tux rental shoes, and rolled under my dress.

Now this was in 1987, the heyday of the big, Princess Di wedding dresses with huge, full ballgown skirts. Plus, I was wearing my mom's full, boned petticoat.

So, there is the Best Man, on his hands and knees, crawling around on the alter trying to find the ring under this mass of white lace, tulle and taffeta.

And, me, the happy little bride is completely clueless to this. I didn't know what happened until guests asked me about it during the reception.

I have it all on tape. If I ever find the tape, I'm gonna send it in to America's Favorite Videos - it may win me some $$.

We had several imperfect moments but laughed them off and kept on going - right before the preacher asked if anyone had any reason why we shouldn't get married there were 3 gunshots that went off. Then just before he was pronouncing us man and wife - yep, 3 more gunshots at which point my brother whispered just loud enough for everyone to hear "funny, I didn't think this was a shotgun wedding" The photographer got a great picture of us laughing after that.

I was clearning up wedding stuff last week and discovered all the bouts and corsages were still in the drawer - oops, forgot that as well.

Haha my preacher forgot to have us exchange our rings and then when we were finished with the vows he used my last name instead of the grooms!

We had a couple minor ones, but the biggest one we had was a couple friends from high school decided it was an awesome idea to "pre-drink" before an open bar wedding. One of the girls who thought she should have been a bridesmaid, had to be taken home right after dinner because she couldn't walk and the one guy got so drunk, he spilt rum and coke all down the front of my dress and proceeded to hit on me in a very creepy way as my new husband was up playing in the band... Apparently he came by the next day to find his cooler of beer he forgot in the ditch (my mom had saw it and took it up to the house). He came to ask for it instead of apologizing and my mom flipped on him... apparently he left in tears lol

I went into our day knowing something would go wrong lol. I hoped knowing this it'd be less of a big deal. While getting ready in the morning there was some drama between my aunts and my mom but nothing I couldn't shrug off. My MIL was an angel and tried to keep my mom busy with helping her with things lol. Then DH forgot our car. Which wasn't a big deal cept it had our "Here comes the bride" sign in it. He felt so bad but I didn't care much. We had an extra BM anyways so we just had her walk down with the kids and no one knew it was missing. The cake was decorated wrong but that's it. I think if you go in expecting pefect you'll be more disapointed with things. Although DH STILL feels bad about the sign lol.

@Cyndi - What was wrong with the cake? My sister had a similar thing happen at her wedding. The grooms cake was AWFUL and they had to cut it up before anyone could see it. Then when they went to confront the bakery they had shut down!

Yup my whole reception turned into cake and punch because we forgot to get burners for the hot food the meatballs werent cold but wernt warm either. ran out of sodas and ice. Dj skipped out on us 2days before then called that morning and say he would be there then still never showed up. luckily my BIL burned the music i was to walk down the alse on a CD and my dear DOC drove her car on the field and played it from her radio Bless her heart she saved the day. Had 3 cakes tho. but all and all It was the perfect day for me.

The only thing that I really remember going wrong was my poor sisters zipper splitting, thank goodness we were still at my house and not walking down the aisle, she had a black dress in her car that she ended up wearing, she was definitely more upset then I was. That was our big one, if anything else went wrong I don't really remember, I'm sure there was something
