Walking down the aisle & timing

Jennifer, on February 23, 2017 at 8:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Has anyone figured out how the timing will work for your bridal party and your walk down the aisle? I'm planning on having everyone walk down to Highland Cathedral by Phil Coulter. I want to walk after 2.30 minutes when the song adds bagpipes. I don't want to micro manage the dj I just wonder how this would work.

It's do-able but your wedding party is going to have to practice, practice, practice. What works best is timing it so your wedding party walks down the aisle and takes their place leaving you a "buffer" of time until the bagpipes kick in. It's easier to hit the post if you have to wait for it versus rushing to catch up. I hope that makes sense. Best wishes!

How many people will be walking down the aisle before you? I'd figure out the timing and practice!! I think Rev. Michael's tip about leave more buffer time is a great one!

Jessica, it sounds like your DJ is simply asking for background music for those different elements. He'll probably fade the songs in and out as your guests of honor and attendants take their places. I suggest you clarify with your DJ. Best wishes!

Practice and see if your dj is available for the rehearsal. Im not familiar with the song but if there is a chorus or a bridge before the bagpipes a professional dj can loop that part until your party is done and giving you time to be in position. Hope it works out

The parents, 6 bridesmaids, flower girl and ring bearer will go before me. The aisle is very very short so i'm worried when its my turn the bagpipes wont kick in yet. Or could the dj skip ahead if needed?

You don't have to start walking immediately after the flower girl. You could wait until the bagpipes start. A little time in between won't be horrible.

If your BMs are familiar with the music, you could ask them to go at a certain point in the song rather than counting to 3 and then going or whatever. You'll want the FG/RB to get all the way down the aisle before you anyway, and if you have to wait a few extra seconds it won't matter.
