waiting for honeymoon

Raina, on May 23, 2017 at 4:15 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 49

Just want to know how many of you are waiting to have the honeymoon? Me and FH most likely can't afford to do it right away but now I'm getting sad that it won't be right after. We'd even have to wait at least 4 months until after wedding because FH works 70-80 hours a week from November to January and can't take time off. What are you guys doing in terms of honeymooning?

We are kind of waiting. We are taking a week off right after the wedding and staying in a city about two hours from where we live for a mini moon. We're then going to save and take a bigger trip for our 1 year anniversary as our "honeymoon"

We are waiting! Getting married in January and then really wanted to do Italy (my FH is part Italian). The weather is freezing there Jan/Feb so we will be going in May for our honeymoon. We decided we are going to try and do Italy, Spain, and like a night in Paris (but haven't solidified anything yet). Plus gives us time to relax and regroup post wedding festivities instead of hustling off to an international trip. Way more relaxingSmiley smile

My fiancé and I are building a house so we know there's no way we can take a honeymoon right away. We are completely fine with waiting until January to take ours. It helps spread out the costs of things.

My husband and I did a "mini-moon" a few weeks after our wedding - just a 4 day weekend away because we we also couldn't afford the "big honeymoon". We planned to do it later when we had the money saved. We're thinking now of making it a big 5 year anniversary trip since we haven't been able to go. I would say it's a little disappointing that we didn't get the big honeymoon but I'm also glad we planned within our means and didn't spend money we didn't have.

We want to have our honeymoon right after but we might wait until March to go so we can save a bit more money.

We had a "mini-moon" a couple days at a bed and breakfast a couple hours away. It was a nice way to savor the wedding before jumping back into real life. We couldn't afford a full honeymoon right after the wedding, money or time wise.

We are now approaching our one year anniversary in a few weeks and planning a cruise to Bermuda to celebrate!

We are waiting for our 1st anniversary to do our honeymoon based on me being in my grad school and I cannot have time off from there during the course of the semester but we are going to Alaska so it will be perfect time to save and then we can celebrate my graduation in 2018 and our 1st year on the vacation

We are doing a mini moon at a beach town a few hours away for a few days. Then we plan on going to an all inclusive resort in Cancun sometime next year. It wasn't in our budget to have a honeymoon right away, and we're okay with it.

We're leaving the day after our wedding, but this was something that was particularly important to me. I find that most people are waiting to take a honeymoon these days and doing a 1st anniversary trip instead. I do think you should spend your wedding night in a hotel though if you could swing it (instead of just going home) and take take the following day to just relax and enjoy each other (somewhere other than your living room lol, even if it's the local park).

My coworker and boss were generous enough to gift us a mini-moon since we wouldn't be able to do the full vacation right away (I'm pregnant and we really don't feel like spending the money). We are still taking a week off work to enjoy being married and will plan the real deal later on.

We would like to leave right after our wedding, however it will depend on what our budget will allow. We'll decide that next year though!

Our wedding is July 1 and we won't be going on a honeymoon until late September. That's mostly because weather in the pacific NW is dreamy in the summertime and neither of us likes to leave during the few months that we get incredible weather. So generally for vacations we wait until the weather gets rainy and dark.

We are. FH accumulates his vacation throughout the year, so a trip in December is easier. We're also looking at Thailand, Cambodia, and Bali and Nov-Feb has better weather.

I chose to not have a bridal shower or a wedding registry. I have told my close family and friends to spread the word that if someone wants to get us a gift a honeymoon fund would be appreciated. We chose an affordable after wedding shorter honeymoon that we can hopefully help pay for with the honeymoon fund collected from guests at the wedding. But we are going to do bigger better vacation/second honeymoon after our finances get back to normal after the wedding. Maybe at 1 year around our first anniversary.

We can't go until next year. I work for usps and they won't give me the time off during busy season.
