Waffles!

Fiancé and I are having a morning wedding and want to do a waffle bar (among other things) at the reception. Any ladies out there do a waffle bar that can give me some tips and tricks? Thank you!

You had me at waffles and lost me at self-catering.

No one is judging you, they are trying to save you from a potential disaster. Your wedding day will be so stressful and hectic if you're having to worry about the food, that's why everyone is telling you to hire a caterer so they can do the worrying, and you can enjoy the day.

I like the idea of waffles done by a professional. I also would expect hot sausage, bacon, a breakfast casserole, light fluffy eggs, fresh cold fruit, and an assortment of juices (cold) and a Bloody Mary & Mimosa bar if I am attending a properly hosted brunch reception. This is from a guest perspective.

I can't imagine a wedding dress would be pretty for long with grease splatters all over it...

I'm hiring a caterer to do a waffle and crepe bar. So that would be my advice to you, shop around for a caterer that you can afford. The time, stress risk, etc. is not worth doing yourself. The caterer is having some waffles pre made and then making them during the reception to keep them hot and fresh but also to alleviate the line.

We went to a group tasting yesterday and they had a waffle bar set up. It was cool! Great idea

Yummm I think a big brunch bar would be amazing! For waffles I would go for cream sweet cheese spread (cr. Cheese sugar and vanilla) and fresh fruit!

No one is judging you. Celia and LittleDemon just gave you firsthand accounts of why self-catering is an awful idea. The brunch wedding sounds awesome! But please hire a professional caterer.

You had me at waffle bar and thinking that would be so delicious but lost me when you said you were making the batter yourself.

Yuck, they're PROs who have done their wedding and regretted it. They don't just say that to be saying something. Hire a caterer!

I am also catering my own wedding. After reading some of these posts I am becoming nervous. I'm sure yours turned out amazing. Would you mind sharing some tips?

We are doing a waffle bar as well. We were going to use chafing dishes to keep warm. Will they get limp or soggy, or dry and hard? Thanks!
