Vow renewal/wedding

Brittney, on September 5, 2019 at 1:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hello. I have a question and want some insight.
Little background: my husband and I got married 8 years ago on a whim in a chapel in reno for $80. No wedding, party, family, dress etc. I has always been a constant nagging thing for me to have a wedding. I want to have that experience and fulfill that dream. My husband is now getting on board and we were thinking of doing a 10 year vow renewal/actual wedding. We dont want to be weird or tacky but we do want to actually have a wedding. Is this something someone has done or does this sound way to tacky? Any advice would be awesome!

Vow renewals are pretty common. You plan it the same way you would a wedding, except invites will say "vow renewal" or "celebration of marriage" or something like that. Also, the officiant doesn't need to be ordained. Actually, some officiants for hire may not do vow renewals. Other than those 2 details, the two are pretty much the same.

Very common for couples to do this. I was supposed to do this but instead ended my previous marriage because of differences. But definitely always wanted a big wedding. I had got married when I was pregnant and 18 in vegas....

There's absolutely nothing tacky about a vow renewal. Go for it!

Do it! We're renewing on our 10th and planning the whole thing like it's an actual wedding. Our wedding was such a disaster that we both want to redo it and do it the way we couldn't afford to before. Just be prepared for everything you look at for a vow renewal to say "We Still Do!". I'm so tired of seeing that on everything haha.

Nothing tacky about it at all. The big wedding is basically just a party anyway. Plan it like you would any other wedding and have fun. As a PP mentioned above, the invites and officiant are really the biggest changes.

We are actually doing a vow renewal in February after 20 years of marriage. We didn't have much of a wedding, no one from my family was able to attend and now I'm planning my dream wedding with my entire family. I say go for it! I definitely am!
