My bridesmaids and I went shopping together for dresses.

I just put their outfits all next to each other on a Pinterest, which isn't perfect, but it helped somewhat

I actually brought my wedding dress and held it up to bridesmaid colors I was considering in natural light, and inside the bridal store. Not to be outdone, I actually brought one of my table linens and pots for my centerpieces, and held that up to them too. I took LOTS of pictures. My husband and I took it a step further and did picture "lineups" of color combinations of our attire with the groomsmen attire and bridesmaid colors on my computer.

Call it what you will, but we took the extra steps because we wanted everyone to look good, and wanted the wedding to have a cohesive aesthetic.
