Viking wedding theme

Aloura, on June 26, 2018 at 12:54 PM Posted in Planning 2 22
My fiance and I are having a Viking themed wedding . I was wondering what sort of activities anyone could suggest for us. The ceremony is going to be pagan since I'm pagan and my fiance adores all things Norse and Celtic. The activities we have planned for now are in this order for the reception: traditional bride/groom dance, axe throwing, drinking contest, and then a warrior tug of war. I'm at a loss on what else we could do to make this wedding a huge boom.

I plan on doing so! The wedding is going to be a blast! We are trying to both get our muscles built up to look like warriors on our wedding day, it's going to be absolutely insane!!

This sounds dangerous. Why the viking theme?

I am pagan, and he is really into anything Norse... Just a couple of unique people that want our day to be unique and express our personalities fully.

As long as its fully hosted with food and drinks, have at it.

I would be really hesitant to have a drinking contest or an ax throwing while/after people have been drinking. You dont really want your "big boom" to be an ambulance.

My fiancé wants to know if he could come! This sounds super awesome and I can’t wait to see it. Our friends are actually planning to have a Viking wedding, so I’ll pick their brains for you lol.

This is so awesome! I can't wait to see pictures! You could have some kind of variation on pin the tale on the donkey(childish but once you have enough drinks most everything is fun). You could also have a fun photo booth but with some kind of viking themed props, maybe a ship background. Also while reading this, I'm automatically thinking of what your hair will be like. I love all the warrior braids looks!

I think my only concern is if you pack your wedding full of activities, are people going to have a chance to relax and enjoy? I really think you have enough planned. Allow time for your guests to eat, relax and enjoy.

The axe throwing will be before the drinking.

I'm not entirely sure as to what my hair style is going to be. I have red hair and am trying to grow it out.

We are making the food ourselves, and also allowing guests to bring food, basically a pot luck, and friends have volunteered to distribute the wine, beer, and rum.

This is also very dangerous. Who's going to make sure the food is at temp? Full? that guests arent over consuming alcohol?

Your wedding theme sounds like a lot of fun, but you should seriously reconsider this part.

First of all, it's not good hosting to have your guests subsidize your reception. You host, you pay. It's as simple as that. Don't ask people to make food. In addition, then you have issues with people with allergies and intolerances, as well as sanitation. Plus people will have to work at your wedding to keep the table full and that really is rude not to allow your guests to enjoy the party.

You also need a licensed bartender for safety reasons. In my province you have to have a liquor license and a bartender with their serving credentials or it's illegal. There are reasons why that's the case.

We do ax throwing all the time & there is often beer served, no one gets out of hand. Your wedding theme sounds AMAZING!!! I can't wait for your BAM.

Edit: I didn't see you already put, ax throwing before alcohol!
