Videographer Interviewing Wedding Party

Christine, on September 28, 2017 at 4:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I was thinking about having our videographer conduct short/sweet interviews with the wedding party while we all get ready. I've seen other videos where people have done it and thought they were sweet. Wanted to know what everyone's opinion was on it and if you had any cute/funny questions to ask them such as best wishes, memories, congratulations etc. Thanks!!

My cousin's videographer did this, and honestly it was kind of weird. Everyone's answers seemed kind of forced and awkward. It's a personal preference thing I think. It's just not for me.

At one wedding we attended a videographer went around interviewing guests, while we were eating. He was obnoxious. Stuck the camera and microphone in your face, etc. My parents didn't want to participate. He ended up saying something insulting to my father (who's disabled) that makes my Mom steam, even years later.

I think the ladies will be busy getting ready. I wouldn't have wanted someone else in the room, with women in their underwear.

Unless everyone is super out going then it might be awkward lol or just see who would want to instead of forcing the whole wedding party to do it. If it were me, I would hate to be interviewed

Depends.... By the time the interview some guest may be hammered. My FSIL did this at her wedding and it worked out okay but they only did the parents and Grandparents of the families.

We attended a wedding where they did this. In theory, it sounds like a good idea, but the example I saw turned out super awkward. There was a lot of repetition in the messages, "We love you!" "Beautiful wedding, thanks!" Many people don't like being videotaped, so they mumble and giggle, can't look directly at the camera, etc. It's more likely to turn out like awkward, old home movies you've had to sit through, than a poignant, heartfelt keepsake.

I wouldn't have them interview the guests because I don't want a n incident such as the movie Tommy Boy. Thanks everyone!! I'm still going to have to think about it.

I would not want to be put in this position.

I wouldn't say interview but if some of your bridal party wants to leave you a nice message, I guess that would be cool

My videographer did this at the end of the night without us knowing and it was the worst. Everyone is trashed and it's kinda funny but it would be a lot funnier if I didn't pay a ton of money for him to capture something else. My advice is to skip it completely. I don't enjoy that part of my video and I second PPs sentiments of people feeling awkward and put on the spot.

I did this at every bat mitzvah growing up so I feel like it reminds me of that and not a wedding

Have you spoken to your WP about this? They may not be very comfortable with the idea.

This could be cute but maybe discuss this with your BMs as some might be more up for it than others!

I wouldn't do this unless the BP was 100% on board (and I know mine wouldn't be, but yours may be - ask them)
