Videographer for ceremony ONLY?

JuneBride2013, on November 13, 2012 at 9:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hi! Has anyone hired a videographer for their ceremony ONLY? I’d like someone to professionally capture it all, but don’t want to spend $2k for 8 hours of coverage.

My wedding is in Arlington, VA in June!

Thanks for your ideas!

If we end up hiring a videographer, it will only be for the ceremony most likely.

I think that's a pretty interesting idea, actually. I think the challenge is going to be someone to actually do it, since that is a prime day. (and in my area, 2000.00 barey covers it....) I would think since most pros can only be one place at a time, they would choose a job that is longer and thus more expensive.

I wonder if someone who is a pro but doesn't shoot weddings would be find-able? In any case, I like the way you think ;-)

We were also looking for a videographer to only capture our ceremony since my uncle could not be there. We contacted the fine arts/new media department at a local university and they got us in touch with some people. We didn't end up going with them, but it's an idea. Also if a school has a journalism dept, you might find people there.

I was able to find someone in my area to do my ceremony only for about $750...my mom then decided we HAD to capture the reception so she paid an extra $300 for an extra 2 hrs

Great idea to look into a school! I'm considering having my groom's uncle just man a tripod ... Tacky?

A talented amateur friend did our video, and it was ceremony only. Honestly, that's the only part I wanted.

We're a decor lighting and videography company in Virginia, and we offer a package for just the ceremony. I'm sure we aren't the only ones out there who offer this package! Don't pay for anything you don't need, but make sure you have some other way of remembering your reception if you don't have a videographer there, like a great photographer!

A friend of mine from high school recently used The Girl Tyler for videography in her DC wedding. She RAVED about her on FB yesterday. I don't know if she just does ceremonies, but it's worth a shot. Smiley smile
