Hi all!! I’m super new to the planning stages of our wedding, my fiancé is active duty Army and is getting deployed next year, we won’t be having the reception until he gets back in 2020 so in theory we have plenty of time but we want a lot of the decisions to be made together before he is gone, therefore we are on a mad hunt for venues!! I know venues are expensive but I’d love to hear from brides who are on a budget, we are fortunate to have our families helping a lot but morally I don’t want to spend 20K on just the venue!! Any suggestions are welcome I’m slightly panicking over venue prices!!

Yay for starting to plan your wedding!!! Have you checked out the WeddingWire vendor search tool? You can search for a venue in your location and request pricing on any of the search results that you like!! You can even filter it by the type/style of venue that you're looking for!
Where area of CT are you from?! I used to live near Hartford and might have some suggestions for venues around that area (if you're open to looking around there?!)

Thank you so much, I just started looking on wedding wire today and have had several responses already! Again all putting me slightly too high in budget still, we live in Bristol so are looking anywhere around here, trying to keep within 30 minutes so Hartford would work!

Maneeleys Banquet in South Windsor is amazing. They include the food and cake and open bar and so much more in their PPP! Its reasonable too, under $100 pp

Have you had much luck in finding a venue, Victoria? I don't know about Connecticut, but $20K seems like a lot for a venue. Did those numbers include anything else or just the venue?

I went to a wedding at Tunxis Country Club in Farmington which was nice. We looked into it prior to choosing to elope and it seemed affordable.

I'm using Woodwinds in Branford. 79 pp with wedding cake included (you get to choose from a handful of bakeries), all we really have to find is photographer and djs!
