Venues

Dana, on June 4, 2019 at 7:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 19
Is anyone else having a problem with venues not responding. I’ve sent two messages to two different vendors through wedding wite (and also one by email) and haven’t gotten response from either. It’s been a week.

WeddingWire isn't the best method of communication for many vendors. I think a lot of them use it for advertising, but don't regularly keep up with their messages. I would definitely email or call.

I would try to call them. Not all vendors routinely check their messages here.

Sometimes it takes a week for me to get a response and I've booked and paid these people. If you're looking for packages, send them a direct email. If you're looking to book, call them.

It’ll tell you if they’ve seen your message on here. If they have and still haven’t responded, I would move on and find another place. It’s happened to me plenty of times and is very frustrating. It’s like don’t you want my money?

Well my thing is they all get emails and this is a business transaction. I’m a violinist and I always answer with at least something within 24 hours. Even if it’s to say thanks for your message I’ll get back to you, or here’s some basic info let me know what you think. My other good wedding vendors have done the same. I’m not comfortable letting someone be in charge of my wedding who can’t answer an email within 3 business days. And they already have generic responses for inquiries. I contacted about 30 different venues and then narrowed it down to the perfect one. I think that’s the patient part, not the trying to work with someone who won’t work with you part.

Thank you ladies for your responses. It helps getting feedback since this is brand new territory for me. It’s disheartening when the place I want the most won’t respond so I’ll give them a call, see if that gets results and if not, there’s always plan B.

I just got a response from a vendor I contacted in November 2018! We booked our venue in December. I would suggest contacting them directly outside of wedding wire if it’s a top choice.

This happened to me with a hair salon. I got an email 7 months later asking if I had made a decision on HMU for the wedding with less than 2 months to go. The real kicker was that I was the last one who emailed. So it was me waiting for an answer not them. 🤦‍♀️

This is how I weeded venues/vendors out. If they can't respond to my WW message or direct email within a week, even to say we'll get back to you, then I moved on to the next one. A good business should recognize that a potential customer is waiting. I had a baker respond a month later, after I already booked one, to say they would be more than happy to do my wedding. Uhh… not anymore you will haha.

I once had a vendor avoid contacting me back because they were worried I was a scam message. You may also end up in their junk folder or they don't check their e-mail often.

I suggest always calling a vendor first. Then you can e-mail correspond. I created a separate wedding e-mail for bridal shows and vendor contacts that I could just drop later on.

This happened to me when I first found Wedding Wire, and started contacting vendors through the site. I had contacted 4 different venues I was interested in, and none of them got back to me.

I ended up going to their websites directly, and making contact there. Finally I got some responses. So, like others have said, it may be that they just aren't as responsive to messages that come through WW. Not sure why that would be. But if you're really interested in one, be proactive! Call them, go there, whatever it takes. Good luck!!

You all were right. I made the phone call and got my venue. I’m contacting all vendors directly by phone now.

    Professional planner here-

Email them directly or send them a message through their website if they don't respond in 48 hours move on. Wedding Wire is hard to communicate through. Give them a chance through another form of communication but don't wait around forever. Another thing to consider is right now is our busy season so it is really difficult for us to check every avenue of communication. You might even have to wait up to a week via email to hear back from them. This is normal.

I've had the same issues, actually. Some venues would have a quick response time but other venues/vendors wouldn't. Even after contacting them through their individual websites. I thought it was just me but I guess it makes sense depending on how busy they are. I can rarely ever call because I work 2 jobs and literally have no days off. When I try, either they're busy and don't pick up or they're already closed. It's frustrating.

Yupppp. you definitely need to cast a WIDE net. I messaged literally 70+ places. Just keep sending those messages! No one will be offended if you say "thanks, already booked another venue".

    Email or call them directly.
I did contact 14 venues, and only had 12 respond. But I also made sure to contact them directly, not thru here. After that, if they didn't respond within 2 weeks, I crossed them off the list.
