Venues traditional or nontraditional?

Did you choose a traditional venue or a nontraditional venue? Which worked best for you? Which would you advise any new bride to do?

    Hi Jessica!

There's plenty of beautiful traditional/non traditional venues around but I think the venue should be based on what you can afford. We were originally going to have ours at a Library establishment that offered outside ceremony and ballroom reception. Since we ended up having a huge financial set back, we're now doing an elopement at a mansion and then a big reception at a banquet hall.

We are going traditional as far as our venues go. Initially we weren't but we ended up changing our minds only due to the previous venues size limitations.

We picked a "traditional" venue since our venue is always used as a wedding venue during high season. It's an equestrian center so I guess it's unique in that way, but they were very familiar with weddings and had lots of systems in place.

My venue used to be a church, but has been converted into a rental hall that does a lot of yoga classes. (Still has stained glass and other churchy architecture tells) This works for us since we're more spiritual than religious. To each their own.

There really isnt a wrong way to have a venue as long as it can accommodate all other aspects of your wedding.

My ceremony and reception will be at a local brewery! I think it’s pretty “non traditional”

Mine will be at a zoo because I wanted something different than usual. For me, looking for something unique helped narrow down the list. Plus it's meaningful to my fiance and I because we're animal lovers and go to zoos in every new city we visit.

But your choice should be something that makes sense to you and your fiance. If you're religious, go for the traditional religious ceremony. If you're on a super tight budget, you can do something like a park. If your wedding day is all you've been dreaming about your whole life and you can manage it financially, splurge on something luxurious.

We’re getting married in a small, historic chapel in town. I’d say fairly traditional. The reception venue is just a clubhouse we could rent.

Our venue was a vineyard. Not sure if that’s considered non-traditional or not?

Non-traditional! My hubby’s 1st wedding was in a church and restaurant reception so he was fine with an outdoor wedding for ours and we loved our pirate reception in a wine cave! 🏴‍☠️ 🍷

There are so many cool untraditional venues: zoo, aquarium, car museum, art museum, historic house, haunted house, ski resort, botanical garden.
