Venues & rehearsal times

Sara, on May 16, 2019 at 9:48 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
Just curious how far ahead of time our venue was able to schedule your wedding rehearsal. Our ceremony & reception are at the same venue. We booked in November 2018 for our October 2018 wedding and are paying extra to have the ceremony and rehearsal there. Today I emailed our coordinator from the venue to asks what time our rehearsal will be the day before (so we can finalize our contract with the officiant) and she said she won’t be able to give us a time until the beginning of October (or wedding is the 26th). I’m so pissed! Like how am I supposed to plan the rehearsal dinner too if I don’t even know what time the rehearsal is gong to be. We’re including OOT guests in the dinner to so all that info will be on the invitations which I’m sending in August and hoping to order as soon as I see a good sale 😤 this makes no sense!

We set the time for our rehearsal at the venue around October 2018 for our June 2019 wedding I believe.

We weren’t able to book rehearsal time till the 10 week mark. It’s because other people could book that day so they give times around that for rehearsals. Also do you not have many oot guests? For me most of my guests are oot so they are not invited to the rehearsal unless they’re apart of it. You could always just send them a message with the info once you have a time set.

We are also having our ceremony and reception at the same place. The lady told us we cannot scheduled our rehearsal until 3 months before. This is because they may have other events around the time of our wedding. I get it, they don't want to miss out on a potential client who is going to pay for the day/ couple hours rather then a free rehearsal for 20 mins. But she did tell us it will either be the Thursday or Friday before our wedding. I guess every place is different and if that is how they do it, that's how they do it. I wouldn't be to worried about it, everyone in the wedding party already knows they will have to be there and at least they are giving enough time in case people have to take off from work.

My contract shows when rehearsal times are.. for example, Saturday weddings are on Thursday evenings from 6-7. BUT if there's not an event Friday she's flexible.. so, we're doing ours tomorrow so everyone can make it. We're not inviting any out of town guests as just the wedding party, family, officiant (uncle) is about 30 people. I'd just send them a message when you know and leave it up to them whether they come or not, but to let you know so you can do reservations.

We confirmed our rehearsal date and time in March for our August wedding.
Theh hadn't brought it up yet; but most of the groomsmen are out of town and we wanted to give ample time to arrange their travel.

We made tentative plans with our venue for the rehearsal in January (for a Nov. 9th wedding). I say tentative because if someone wants to book the room we are using for an event that day, we will have to work around it. Right now we are scheduled for 4:00 but it could get bumped as early as 11. All of the people who need to be at the actual rehearsal have all been told about this and have planned to take the day of just in case they need to be there early. We scheduled to dinner for 6:00 so no matter what, that part wont change.

Maybe ask what the latest it could be is and plan around that for the dinner?

That doesn't seem right. We are meeting with our venue at the end of June for a Sept 2019 wedding. This will be when we confirm rehearsal time among other things. We already confirmed having rehearsal the day before the wedding months ago but will be confirming time like I said at the end of June. I would definitely be speaking to your venue again saying you need to have a specific rehearsal time much earlier than October

Our venue lets us have the space Thursday-Saturday for a Saturday wedding so we're having the rehearsal sometime Friday night. We haven't decided on the time yet, though.
