venue/hotel shuttle

Judi, on January 20, 2017 at 9:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

How would I go about finding the least expensive method of transferring my guests from the hotel to The Venue? It's a (eta ibwas wrong about my original estimation...its a 30 min drive), but it can get very dark and I don't want my city guests afraid of the country dark and leaving early. And for the few that are heavy drinkers, I want them to enjoy themselves without worrying about driving back. I've looked up school buses, and I haven't mentioned the word wedding, but still the quotes are 1600 and up. I looked on Craigslist but only find airport shuttles. What else can I say do or look for to really minimize the cost? I'm driving myself to the venue, there is no limousine or fancy transportation. I want that cost to go towards my guests enjoyment, but why does it seem like the shuttle is so much more expensive than a fancy limousine?

First student charter bus company. They quoted me under $1000 for 8 hours of shuttle service

Does the hotel offer any transportation? Ours has a 32 person bus, and then if we end up needing more than that we can pay to use one of their smaller shuttles in addition to the bus. The hotel might also have some recommendations for shuttle companies that they have partnered with that can offer special rates.

I think that price is about average. We received a quote of 1500 not including tip for 10 hours of trolley service.

@snowangel I asked and no they don't have a shuttle and the companies they suggested are the ones that are very expensive. they're a new and growing hotel so I can ask again closer to the wedding. it's ask again Sunday wedding so I'm hoping things don't get booked up too fast but it *is* high wedding season in this part of the US

At the advice from another bride on WW I looked into Uber events. You set it up for the times you want and the day you want and you can add the location for pick up/drop off. After it is set up they send you a link for you to share with your guest and they use the link to schedule a car and you get the bill for it, it goes on your credit card. I like it because people are going to be ready to come/go at different times so they can schedule their rides when the time is good for them. Thats what I am doing.

Is there a way I can get an estimated cost for an uber ride? I've ever used the service before

I'm getting a school bus to do it. $70 an hour and they don't charge for idling time.

I would send inquiries to all the limo type companies in your area and see what you get. Our shuttle is $900 for a 24 person party bus for 3.5 hours before the ceremony and 2 hours at the end

I asked hotels in the area if they offered shuttles. Most of the hotels near my venue give a free shuttle if you book so many rooms.

I.e. We booked 15 rooms so we got a shuttle for free, three trips both ways

You could look into party bus rental? We are considering. Our venue is half an hour away from our hotel, the shuttle only holds 15 at a time. A party bus could take a lot more and usually there is a set price.
