Venue

Sam, on August 2, 2019 at 12:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
We’re having such a hard time finding a venue. I’m always such a planner and I always want to get the best deal.. so I just keep looking and doing research. Now I’m just getting so overwhelmed and I’m scared that venues will just start filling up, since it’s just getting closer and closer. I feel like at one point we won’t have many options. It’s making me think we should just go with it, since we did find one that we like (don’t love it though). It’s ok on price (we can make it work), but it’s not as cheap as we’d like.

What would or have you all done in this situation? Should we keep looking and touring until it’s perfect or just choose one with the information we have already?

Keep looking until you love it. I’m having mine a private conservatory in a restaurant.

I looked at so many places trying to find the best price too and eventually I just chose mine. It wasn't even the cheapest option but we knew it had what we wanted even if it wasn't the cheapest option for us.

Omg this was totally how I was too! I was so indecisive! We made this really elaborate spreadsheet playing out the different cost scenarios plus pros and cons and we settled on one but then the guy rubbed me the wrong way and we changed our mind at the last minute to our current one. I was also determined to get it done by x date. There's still some pros and cons and sometimes I wonder if we made the right choice but I think there would have either way (unless we went with something totally out of our budget). Overall, I'm happy with our choice.

I think consider those pros and cons for your choices but just know at the end of the day, you're going to be happy to be marrying your fiance no matter what! Also, it helps to remember, theres other decisions you can make after so the venue isn't the end all, be all.

I would keep looking and deciding what you want your venue to look like and if you want it beach, mountains, plantations look. That will help you narrow down the list. And then how much you are wanting to pay and how much you are willing to pay. Those are two different things because you don’t want to fall in love with a place and you can’t afford it.

Did you find ones you love but are out of budget? I’d ask about off-season rates. And consider a Sunday brunch or early Sunday evening wedding just to get a venue I’d love! It makes a big difference on the day, easier/cheaper to decorate, and in your wedding photos.

More choices.... more headaches. I think you need to narrow down the top 3 aspects about a venue that are important to you. For example: Maximum price, the style (garden/loft/hotel), capacity, location, specific date available, ceremony/reception at same venue, etc.

Do you have a specific date that you must have?if not, you probably have some more flexibility. I am normally a very indecisive person and bargain shopper. I would make a list of must have things you want your venue to have and your budget and go from there. Do some online research and make some calls about prices and tours. I also recommend a pro con list. We had a list of 6-7 venues to visit, but we didn’t even bother going with any others after we saw the 3rd venue bc we knew it was right.

Have you looked into churches? Those usually don't cost a high amount!

Neither of us are religious, so we’d prefer not to have it at a church.

If your wedding is in the fall you might qualify for off season discounts, I wouldn’t worry too much. You have a little over a year and yes, venues book up fast but brides want june-september(and don’t you dare touch peonies week! Brides will fight you for that date) so you might have more time than you think.
