I 100% agree we have 1 more site tour before we’re making our final decision 😬😊

I don't know how you'd book either vendor before you have a venue because in order to book a vendor you need to know the date of your wedding. You don't know before booking your venue if the place that you pick will have the date you want available.

Lol I'm in the same boat!!! I'm set on basically everything other than the venue... and my wedding is 6 months away 😅 The venue I'm in love with is so iffy about certain things and that drives me crazy, but I'm actually planning on booking today. It's good that you're planning ahead lol. Hopefully since you have those things already, things will be a breeze after you find the venue. That's what I'm hoping for for myself as well because everything up to this point has been hell for me! Good luck 😊

We have already confirmed with the venues we are looking at that they have our date.

But I agree that it's not smart to book anything without having your venue set in stone. I just happen to have a hold on my date for the venue, and the photographer and DJ are family friends, so they're flexible as all get out.

I also wanted to add that some venues have a required list of vendors and will not allow you to book vendors not on that list without paying extra.

That could change because they aren't required to hold your date without a signed contract. A lot of people are also postponing their weddings so the venues could end up being booked before you decide.

You're definitely not the only one. I've seen plenty of others on this app as well who are in the same boat as we are. You've got this, girl! ❤️

We technically booked our photographer before we booked our venue, though we had already decided which venue we were going to book, and they were holding our date for us until we were able to officially book. It sounds like all of the venues you are considering have your date open - as long as they are doing a soft hold on the date so no one else can book it first, and the venues are OK with your other vendors, I don't see anything wrong with booking other vendors first!

I personally would be scared to book those things before having my venue/date locked. I want to second what a pp mentioned that the venue might have the date open now but with everyone pushing back they cant hold it forever without a deposit. They will take a guaranteed bride over a maybe bride anyday.

I’d try booking a venue ASAP, especially with your wedding less than a year away. We were scheduling a tour of the venue in January for our fall visit. At the time of the phone call, there were 4 dates available to choose from. When we went on the tour just a few days later, one of those dates was already taken by a couple who actually had their tour earlier that day. Luckily, one of those dates was also available for our preferred DJ. Most venues won’t hold a date without some form of payment.

I didn't even know that was possible lol. I thought date and location were a must before booking any vendor.

It’s whatevs! As long as you know your date, you should be fine. The only problem is if the venue doesn’t have your date available or needs to change the date for some reason you could run into the risk of the photographer or DJ not being available.
