Venue with mountain views for ceremony in in NY/NJ/PA

Lalaluna, on May 27, 2017 at 5:56 PM Posted in Planning 1 18

Hello everyone!

We trying to find somewhere we can have the ceremony with views of the mountains in the backdrop. We're looking for an affordable venue in the tristate area that may be able to host both ceremony and reception. We're trying to keep the budget for the venue and catering under $15,000 total. We've inquired to places such as Rustic Ridge View Farm, Ashokan Dreams, and the Mount Tremper Art Center. We even looked at hosting an event at a summer camp/YMCA such as Timber Lake Camp (we LOVE this idea) but the costs were astronomical. We're trying to go with an easy going and fun tone, and would love to have a place to do lawn games, bon fire, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Check out some of the Jeffrey A. Miller venues! They have a bunch of options - there may be a few with mountain views. I was looking for an outdoorsy venue with a laid back/fun vibe and we decided on Anthony Wayne House. Depending on venue, time of year and number of guests, you may be able to stick to your budget with JAM. I'd also check out PartySpace.com - that's where I discovered my venue!

You may want to look into the Stroudsmoor Country Inn in PA. They have a couple different options based on your guest count (pic below)

Reality check. You're looking at next year, at Labor Day Weekend, and your availability might be a little tight in any price range.

Mount Fugi in Hillburn NY is so fun, but no place for lawn games (which you honestly don't need anyway)

    Mountain Creek, in Vernon

Any of the Crystal Springs resorts, but especially Ballyowen, my fave (and weirdly enough, I think it's the least expensive.

I will be at the Stroudsmore Inn in a few weeks, and my couples love it.

Try the Forest Lodge in Warren. They have corporate parties so if you wanted to offer games, food trucks, and such then they can make it happen for weddings too. I'm having my wedding at Ballyowen and it's gorgeous. Actually, Black Bear golf club is the cheapest option for crystal springs. Minerals Hotel is also reasonable. Also look at Mt. Fiji in NY near NJ border .

We are getting married at the Pocono Manor, PA.

So far, I have nothing but great things to say about the place and the person in-charge.

The most important reason why we picked this place is, it is, quite literally, all inclusive. Guest accommodations, ceremony and reception all in the same building. It will be convenient for us and our guests.

    Good luck with your search!

I was looking at Mohonk mountain (which is on the pricier side in my opinion) and Bear mountain, both in NY! But both are beautiful!

Thanks everyone for your helpful advice! I will check out these venues. We are also open to less traditional ideas - any summer camps/state parks we can DIY that may be able to accommodate about 100 people are possibiiities for us too if anyone knows of any places!

We're getting married at the Lake Placid Club Golf House in Lake Placid, NY, and the view of the mountains is ridiculous! It's also one of the most affordable venues in that area.

Have you checked out any of the Jeffrey A Miller venues? They are the exclusive caterer at a number of venues. They make everything from scratch on site and have a variety of options per head depending on when/where/what you choose. I am not sure whether or not there are any mountain views, but you might like Waterloo village or the Lake House - or maybe even Audobon. We are getting married at the Aldie Mansion, which is a stunning old mansion, but I don't think that will fit your venue vibe. I would definitely look at their website and check to see if any of the venues fit your dream. All of their venues are BYOB so you can save a lot on the alcohol, and the food ranges from $110 on up - which is reasonable for the tri-state area (unfortunately weddings are so expensive around here!).

Seconding the Jeffrey A. Miller venues. We are getting married at the Duke Art Gallery. No mountain views at our venue but they have made the planning process so easy. We are also saving a lot of money with the BYOB and by having the Bistro Menu. The grounds of the Duke Art Gallery are gorgeous - I'm sure the other venues are the same!

Thanks everyone! We've followed up on advice and one issue we're running into is guest count minimums. We're trying to keep things small around 100 guests. We liked the Lake House but they have a 150 minimum. We saw Ashokan Dreams, Rustic Ridge, Eagles Nest and Woodloch inn. We loved ashokan and woodloch but accommodations are an issue. We found we think we're more comfortable goingnwith an all inclusive as you have more of an idea of the price tag upfront. We're going to check out Stroudsmoor's woodland chapel (sadly we can't do my favorite venue with the mountain views as they require a minimum of 175 guests), Trout Lake Retreat, and the Black Bear and Ballyowen venues at crystal springs as those are the only 2 in budget. Any advice about any of these locations? Looks like I probably won't get a mountain view ceremony sadly...any ideas about other places to have a ceremony lakefront hat may accommodate 100 guests on a budget? Thanks everyone!

This thread has been SO helpful! We too are looking for mountain/lake views with a rustic feel. We looked at Feast, Mohonk and Heamstead. I really liked Mohonk but the budget for everything was doubling by the minute. Today FH went to see Crystal Springs (I couldn’t go today) and he loved it better than anything we have seen so far. FH keeps Glatt Kosher and the price included it at the Crystal - HUGE savings for us.

Thank you all - Please keep the suggestions coming Smiley smile Smiley smile

You could look into renting out a mansion or estate property if your guest list isn’t too huge. My friends did that down in WV really far south (so I wouldn’t recommend that exact location to you) but it was one of the best weddings I’ve ever been to. Everyone had Mountain Views for dinner and were told to bring tents to sleep in. There was a bluegrass band and then our friends played guitar once that winded down. I don’t even know what time we went to bed. It was incredible, laid back, and a ton of fun. You could probably do something similar but have a hotel nearby.

Hey! We loved Ballyowen at Chrystal springs but it ended up being over the 15,000 for 100 guests! I can tell you we ended up with Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in pa. it’s right across the border between NJ/PA and our reception will be about 13,000 for 100 guests. We could have picked a smaller dinner package and it would have been less. I feel like we looked into every option available (WW was so helpful) and after everything Shawnee is giving us the most for our money! The on-site accommodations are expensive but there are plenty of chain hotels within 15 minutes that are reasonable. I’m not sure about the kosher menu at Shawnee though!

You should check out the Audubon Center in Audubon, PA. It’s a great option for smaller weddings. You can get married in an apple orchard and even have a live owl at cocktail hour. There are lots of beautiful views. The caterer is Jeffrey Miller Catering (mentioned above), which serves gourmet farm to table. The bar is BYO which we’ve found definitely cuts down on cost. Good luck!
