Venue too far?

I have about 20 out of state guests (My close friends and family members). We want to get married at a location that's meaningful to us, near my FH's parent's house on the river. This is where we got engaged, and we are planning to do a rehearsal dinner there the night before the wedding. Everyone has said that the travel is no problem, but idk if they are just trying to be polite. The house is about 1.5-2 hours from the nearest airport, which is also the city that the majority of our guests live in (so everyone will have to travel 1.5 hours). We already put a 1000-dollar deposit down on a venue close to the river, but now I'm having second thoughts.

is that too far to ask them to travel? I just feel so bad that they'll likely need rental cars. I already found an air bnb for them to stay at that can hold all of them, I offered to pay for it but my mother insisted that she pay. i just feel guilty making people come all this way and add additional hassle to their trip. Should we have just done it near the airport?

Is the airbnb near the location of the welcome dinner/reception? If not, are there hotels near this venue? Your guests may want to stay in this one area for the weekend.

My husband is going to a wedding in Sept. that is about 1-1.5 hours from the closest airport. Another friend of his is also going to the wedding so they are planning on getting flights that arrive as close to the same time as possible. Hubby is flying from PA and friend is flying from CA. Once they have both arrived they are getting a rental car and the two of them are driving together to the venue. I think if your family and friends can plan something similar to what my hubby and his friend are planning then it could work.
