Venue Stress

futuremrsb, on October 25, 2022 at 9:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hi everyone,

I am at my wit's end. Our original venue fell through. Our date is 10/12/24. I am having a horrible time finding a venue for our reception. Every time I think I find something, there's an issue, whether it's budget or availability. I have cried my eyes out from stress multiple times this week and I'm completely at a loss....

What do I do? Change our date? I already have our photographer and DJ booked...with dated contracts.

Where else can I be looking or calling?
Anyone have a venue that isn't advertised as a wedding venue?

I'm so sorry that this has happened to you I have been there still is a bit will ages days away I dont have a photographers. We are still trying to find someone but budget is very tight tight. You can still look here on our app and search for other venues just search in the area that you guys want to be married at or Thumbtack for venues searches as well you still have time to find what you need. And believe me I understand what you are feeling and going thru. Here us where you can speak with the vendors that you are searching for let them know what you are looking for and when you feel that you are getting upset. Step away from planning for a 2 days so you can clear your head with all of the frustration do some breathing exercises. This planning a wedding is stressful I'm still there trying get the last minute details wrapped up. Happy planning and Congratulations to you both

Thumbtack is often recommended to help find vendors not listed on here.

Since your wedding is 2 years away, if reach out to both photographer and DJ to let them know. They may be either to move your date without issue. They may possibly know of a venue that you haven't looked at.
And if all else fails you could rent out a banquet/community hall.

I agree with checking with your vendors to see if they would be willing to let you move the date (unless you’re tied to your date). I think a lot of vendors got more flexible during Covid. I booked my photographer before we had our date confirmed with our venue, and we specifically asked her if she wanted us to wait, and she said no we got one free date change. It’s also possible they’ll just charge a fee to change the date, which could be smaller than some of these venues you’re looking out that are out of budget. You’re two years out, so take a deep breath because you have plenty of time!!

Oh no I am so sorry! My original date was 10/14/2023 and pushed back to May 2024 due to budgeting. Depending on what kind of wedding you want, I would suggest researching unconventional outdoor/indoor venues. Ones that don't typically host weddings as a popular wedding site, but will do so for an affordable fee. The only thing with this is, you may have to book separate caterers and buy all alcohol yourself if the venue doesn't offer this service. Communication is def key! Remain in contact with your vendors and keep emails of convos for future reference, so they don't go back on their word. I wish you the best of luck!
