Venue sent blank contract

Brooklyn, on March 5, 2023 at 3:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Hey everyone, I have a question for those of you who have booked & signed a contract with a venue. The venue my fiancé and I picked has sent me a contract but it’s blank. I was wondering if that was normal. Normally I figured if they’re sending me the contract, their part should be filled out. Even the pricing part is blank which I find weird, isn’t that something they could put in the contract later and change the price we’ve already discussed? Anything helps. Thank you

Yes, that’s super weird. Especially the price part. I would reply back, letting them know they did not fill out the price, and have them send you one with that information included. It could’ve easily just been an oversight, but better to be safe than sorry!

The contract should be sent without the venue signatures, but everything else should be listed. Date, price, extra fees, what is included, etc

If you have the details discussed already, you could write those values in and then photocopy what you have filled in. I think that without some statement of commitment to the date and pricing by the vendor, you might need to add a clause that your signature is only valid for perhaps 5 work days if not countersigned by the vendor. Otherwise, they could just avoid signing it on their end -- and they could sign a contract from someone who offers more for the venue.

Are they rated well? Like Cece noted, some companies may be fine but just do things out of order. But you can't sign a blank contract.

That's not normal. They need to fill out all the pertinent information before anything is signed. Do not sign until they complete the contract.

It could've easily been a mistake of them not saving or attaching the wrong file. Just reach back out and point it out that there is info missing. Not a huge deal.
