Venue Rental Times

Denise, on November 27, 2022 at 7:56 PM Posted in Planning 1 3

We are having our wedding ceremony and reception at the same location. Based on their packages, the ceremony is an "add on", verbage reads as:

Reception: $$ for up to 60 people Up to 4 hours exclusive use.Ceremony: $$ Up to 1 hour exclusive use.
When I received the service agreement, the time that they have listed is 6 pm - 9 pm.
The rental time in the contract clearly do not reflect the package rental times... Has anyone else run into this? I'm assuming maybe they are allotting time for our very small guest list of 30 to arrive/depart?

The contract should be really clear. The contract should not be signed unless the hours are clear. They should also clarify in the contract the terms for setup and takedown -- unless that is primarily their responsibility. They could include an addendum and reference it from the main contract if the clarification is given to your satisfaction.

I would reach out to the venue coordinator for clarification. If it says up-to 4 hours and you have requested a start time of 6pm and they close at 9, it would make sense you only have 3 hours. But if they have arbitrarily put those times in you may need to clarify your expectations. That hour could be reserved for your set up and tear down too.

That is something that you need to clarify with them. The contract should be very clear on what you are and are not allowed. Typically they include the set up and tear down times in that window.
