Venue Questions

Vivian, on January 14, 2020 at 4:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Hi! I am just now starting to look into venues for my wedding, and was wondering what questions I should ask when talking to vendors. Also what are some questions you wished you would have asked?

Make sure to ask if they require you to have any wedding insurance! Some venues do.

What is included in the venue price (bridal suite, linens, silverware, etc.)? Are there separate fees for certain things such as cake cutting/servings or setup costs? What are the differences in price between on season and off season? How long will the space be available on the day (minimum/maximum time)? Do you have catering services or allow outside catering if there is something special we want that the caterer can’t do?

Definitely ask about deposit and refund policy as well as payment schedule, especially when final payment is due. What's included in the price and does it include tax and gratuity? Is there a minimum guarantee? Any restrictions on decor? Some places don't allow open flames for example. Are you required to use their vendors?

Also, do they allow a rehearsal the evening before? Most venues in my area do weddings Friday thru Sunday so Thursday is rehearsal day for all three weddings on a weekend!

    - What’s the max guest count & what’s the comfortable capacity guest count?
    - Could you decorate the night before possibly?
    - Can you have a rehearsal the night before?- What time can you get in that morning?- Is catering onsite or do you need to hire one?- Can you bring outside food in (i.e. lunch)- What are the food & beverage minimums?- Is there a cake cutting/dessert plating fee?- Can guests leave their cars overnight?- Can you have open flame candles?
    - Do they require a day of coordinator?- Do they require valet/coat check?
