I wanna say this is dependent on what's included in pricing.

*If it comes with tables, chairs, bridal and groom suite, indoor and outdoor ceremony options, place for reception, heated and a/c climate control indoors.

Does it require you to use their caterer? Is the catering expensive?

That's a really broad question, and a hard one to answer, considering that pricing varies for different parts of the country.

Example: you describe a venue that has a lot included. Ours is like that, and will cost about $1200 for the use of the venue, plus they have in-house catering and beverage. That will cost us about $73/per person. So if we had 100 guests, it would come out to about $8500. It's a lot of money for sure, but it checks off most of our boxes. So, it's more about "is it worth the cost?"'

It's really not a simple yes or no, based on total price.

So when you ask how much is too much for a venue, it really depends on a lot of factors. Obviously we thought the price of ours was reasonable, or we wouldn't have booked it.

It also really depends on location, your budget, and whether or not they let you use your own vendors (to me if they're exclusive to certain vendors, they should be cheaper to be worth it cause preferred vendors are usually more expensive).

The first venue we looked at was $5000, the second was $2500, and the third was $1400. They all included everything you mentioned and we decided on the third. It was WAY affordable for our budget, only 30 minutes out of town where most of our guests live, and it was everything we wanted. The first venue was also everything we wanted, about an hour out of town, but way too pricey for our budget.

Too much is whatever is beyond your budget. Generally venue/food/alcohol should take up 50-60% of your total budget.

No, they don’t require us to use their catering. I’m getting an outside vendor!

Oh yes, definitely! Thanks for your feedback! Part of me feels crazy for wanting a 3,900 venue, but it’s something I really want, so I guess it is worth it!

It definitely depends on where the venue is located, what's included with the venue and/or what the personal financial means are of the couple/family. Mine offers all you mentioned and my venue is $6,200 in Orange County, CA so to me, that doesn't sound too bad!

This really depends 100% on your budget. Our venue cost $11,000. It included all day use of the venue (12 hours), chairs & tables for up to $200, bridal & groom's suite, and a rehearsal the day before. Our venue is located south of Denver.

    Depends on your budget.

Our venue is $15k but it includes food, open bar, cake, centerpieces, chairs, linens, valet, utensils. It is also an afternoon wedding, so we had 18% discount, and no minimum.

I'm about an hour from Philadelphia.

Our venue we get it all day for the day of. A complimentary bridal suite for the day before and night of (it's a hotel with a ballroom). Chairs, table linens, napkins, and we have to use an approved caterer from them. For catering it's $30 per person with a certain amount that we have to meet I think it's $5,000 for catering, bar, room rental, servers and bartenders. We have a large guest list so that shouldn't be a problem. The estimate that we received is around $5,600 and that's if all the RSVP's come back yes. So we are going to add more apps in. The only thing that it doesn't include is chair covers which is something I want to have, but we found a reasonable rental company for those.

If we are talking about a venue that is NOT all-inclusive; so this includes renting venue for wedding and reception, tables, chairs, staff, etc; $6,000 is the max I'd probably pay where I live in California. I paid less than that for my venue because I know the owners of my dream venue (thank GOD) but don't know much about pricing for an all-inclusive venue.. my venue does catering but separate cost Smiley smile we had 3 meal options ranging from $28-32 a plate. decor was a separate vendor. everything was. which is what really made the wedding cost so much. the venue wasn't bad compared to the overall cost haha

I think this depends on what all is included & if the venue has any restrictions. If you are talking JUST STRICTLY the venue itself I wouldn't pay more than $2,000. If it includes tables, chairs, flatware, linens etc. I would say nothing over $4,000 unless they have a stellar inventory to choose from. If we are talking all inclusive the whole shebang I would say no more than $10,000.

We originally looked into an all inclusive venue for around 65 guests and everything would of been about $9,500 (venue, DJ, cake, bar, caterers, linens, flatware, uplighting, flowers, & one upgrade [if we wanted a cigar bar or late night snack]).

Ultimately we ended up at another venue for about $3,500 which includes tables, chairs, flatware, linens uplighting, & bridal suite.

This is so dependent on your location, your budget, your guest list, and what's included.

I live in one of the most expensive areas of the country, so I was excited to find an all-inclusive venue for $150/head. That was honestly the cheapest I could find, and I know most people here would be HORRIFIED by that price. But that meant the venue was a little less than 2/3rds of our budget, and we didn't have to think about catering, alcohol, tables, chairs, settings, DOC, etc, etc. They also had a site fee and a ceremony fee, and a built in gratuity.

But, again, I got married in New York City.

Take a look on here and on the Knot, and google in your area. You should start to get a feel for what is the average price for your location.
