Venue permanently closed

Ladies- I just found out from our local newspaper that our venue closed. We received no phone call, no email.

I have called and emailed the venue, no response.
The venue owners statement stated with the Virus and being closed hurt them financially. I do not get that at all. With all the weddings they had going on and the high roller golf players.. how can they be financially unstable. I am hurt, upset and need answers. Also on a bind trying to find a new venue with whatever money we have left. I would like to know do we have a case to sue? We are one payment away from being paid in full.

Omg I am so sorry that happened. Something similar happened in Charlotte NC before the outbreak. Noah’s events venue went bankrupt and all their couples lost their money and venue. However neighboring venues had special deals for those couples, check and see if other venues have something like that.

    Oh, I'm so sorry!

Check your contract, and maybe contact a lawyer. You might even be able to get together with other affected couples and pool your resources for a potential lawsuit.

    Good luck!

Wow, unbelievable! I am so sorry this happened to you... You would think they would have to refund everyone since they've closed permanently and if not then you just might have a lawsuit.

In my state, small claims court doesn't permit people to use lawyers. It's all self representation. The paperwork is fairly simple. Serve them with a small claims suit, and they may be scared enough to refund you. If they filed for bankruptcy, they might be shielded, however. Good luck!
