Venue not returning calls/texts

DBHSEW, on January 24, 2018 at 8:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
Our wedding is 6 months away. And I know it's not uber important to my venue/caterer, BUT I have a couple of questions that I need answered to continue with my planning process. However, twice (once in December, and again today) I contacted her via text, which I recall her saying that's the best way, and crickets. How should I proceed? How long should I wait to try again? What is an expected response time, or time I should expect her want to iron out some details? Thank you

I say see if someone has dealt with that vendor before and get their review. Unfortunately, I went through the same thing and ended looking at alternative locations.

Oh my gosh. This isn't even an option for us. We have 6 months, and my planning is basically done. I'd die.

Im 4 months away and having to look at other venues. Yea it sucks but I don't want to deal with a vendor that doesn't communicate. I think 3-6 days is long enough wait time just to give you an acknowledgement at the very least.

Can you try calling or stopping by during office hours?

Yeah. That is not ok. Are they the owner of the venue or a paid employee? If they are an employee, I would definitely ask for the owner. Stopping by is another good option. If it took a third try I would be extremely worried.

Try calling and emailing, you do have 6 months until your date, but that doesn't mean your questions are ignored. I would give vendors 4 to 6 days to answer before contacting them again, and letting them know you aren't pleased with their response time.

Thank you all. I do not want to get off on the wrong foot with them. They are the owners, and the reviews were mixed. I do understand they can be very busy, but I want 10minutes of her time. I'm very big on service staff, being of actual service to us. Especially since the deposit has been paid for months. Just frustrated. Thank you all again.

GET A NEW VENUE. I went through this with a venue and I'm so glad I went with another one. THe new one was a blessing in disguise because our actual venue turned out to be so much better. You deserve to have your questions and concerns heard by your venue or coordinator. IF not, ditch them and find someone who will.

You're potentially giving this person thousands of dollars. It doesn't matter how busy they are, they need to make time for you. I'd definitely drop by if that's possible.
