Venue not near you?

Future Mrs. Lowder, on February 13, 2020 at 10:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Our venue is about two and a half hours from where we live. That being said, I’m struggling with not being able to see my “work space”. It’s hard to decide where we want certain things, seating, tables, etc. Anyone have any ideas for ways I can make this easier on myself?

    GIRL SAME!!!!

Our venue has a thing on All Seated where the whole place is mapped out and has dimensions to it which is helpful. We have two "planning" sessions where we get to go and lay eyeballs on the venue in person and I'm taking my notebook and things with me to make sure that I get everything placed and don't forget anything on the day of!

Ugh - I can relate to that struggle! We’re having our wedding at my sisters house (3 hours away). I have pictures of the space we will be using - but, it’s hard to know if the tables will fit how I’m thinking they will, etc.

Is yours at an actual venue? If so, can they send you pictures of the space and/or diagrams?

Can you take photos or have someone take photos for you? That’s what I did to help me plan. I also took measurements of spaces.

I think that’s the best thing you can do. I’m hoping my fiancé and I can make at least 1 trip to my sisters before the wedding to take measurements. Fitting everything we need in the space is my biggest stressor right now.

We’re having the reception on the patio & the ceremony in front of the barn.

I would ask the venue for some pictures as well as a layout drawing. Do you have a weekend coming up that you could go visit?

I stalk my venue and their hashtag on social media religiously. You got a lot of pictures from guests and from the venue themselves that way. I also look at there website weekly for updates.

After we booked our venue we moved across the country. I took lots of pictures and measured tables, the arch, mantle, counted fence posts etc for reference while I was planning my decor.

I've only been in my venue twice. Once when we toured, and once during a bridal expo.
I have some photos and that's it. I'm not worries about it. I can't just go in whenever I want even tho it's a block away from my fiances work building. I think most people have to do this, and i think you can too!

Mine is 45-60 away and it’s driving me nuts. The tasting is coming up and I’m hoping to take better pictures this time and start working with the coordinator about where stuff goes (dj for example) gift favors etc. I’m a visual person and I am even going to take my vase to venue and ask to see mirror their using to see if it’s the right size.

I live almost 6 hours from my venue but they gave me a layout of how the tables will be set up and I've seen pictures. I think if I let myself stress too much about this I'm going to lose my mind. If you can measure and take pictures I think you will be set!

That being said, all of the tables will already be there so that helps a lot!

Our venue was a little over an hour from where we live. We made several visits before our wedding. We also had a planner to help us with the small details. Best advice is to take a lot of photos, measure things out when you are there, and visit the space as many times as you can!

Yes, if there's not already some kind of floor plan/map that you can look at, I would just create one using your own measurements, pictures, etc.
