Venue Messages

Chelsea, on July 18, 2019 at 4:49 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
Have any of you experienced lots of annoying messages from a venue(s). I sent some requesting info messages at the start of my venue search and I just have 1 that will not leave me alone! We have about 17 months till our protected wedding date and it isn't like I don't want to tour the venue.. I just am not sure when I can. I thanked them for the information they gave and explained that we have busy schedules and I will contact them when we are ready to tour.. But they will not let up! I am getting about 1 message a week!!! I thanked them for checking in with me (I don't want to be rude) but I felt I made it clear that when we are ready I'll initiate. It is so annoying that I'd like to block them! How can I tell them to back off? I didn't want to burn a bridge incase we did want to tour there, but dang! I'm about ready to tell them to step off!
Thanks!

Yea aha. They just want to get your business so they're always finding ways to message or call. I guess in some aspects they're attentive

I didn't have that happen with any of my vendors, but I'm used to that for work because I'm a Media Buyer and deal with advertising sales people all day everyday. All sales people should check in if they're good at their job, but the really good ones know not to be annoying. I use the "I don't have an answer right now, but I'll reach out to you if I have any questions or need anymore information" phrase a lot for work. It doesn't always get people to back down, but it usually helps! If they're sending so many messages, you don't have to respond to every single one of them either.

I hate this kind of thing and I would probably say "if you keep bugging me I definitely won't be spending my money there, when I'm ready I have all 1500 of your messages so I'll know how to get you", but I have also been told I'm a little blunt and abrasive so you might not want to do that. 🤷‍♀️

If there's one thing I've learned about salespeople, is the more they bug you, the less likely they are to be good at their jobs.

You could get a wedding planner and direct all contact to them or explain that you'd like to give other venues a chance to submit their bid for your wedding and then ask them how much cheaper will it be to use them rather than someone else 🤣

Can you tell if it’s like a mass email that they send to everyone on their distribution list or is it just to you? (Just curious, I get a lot of mass emails too from all different types of vendors). I’d just block them at this point.

Their main goal is to get you in the door to take your money. I had made a consultation appointment with one venue and they waited until AFTER I had scheduled the meeting to inform me our date was already taken, which is something that should've been stated from the outset because I would've moved on down the list. I wound up inventing an illness to cancel the meeting because I don't know that I would've been able to get through it without telling her off.
