Venue issue!

Brittany, on November 17, 2019 at 12:32 PM Posted in Planning 1 30
Planning my wedding for November 2020 and already 3 venues that I’ve really liked are booked and of course the one venue that is so overly priced that my fiancé is set on is still available. Did I start too late to plan? I felt like this was the perfect time 😔
Anyone else run into this issue? If so, did you change your date or just look for more venues?

Side note: The date is not significant we just picked it because we knew we wanted a November wedding but didn’t want to interrupt everyone’s thanksgiving plans either because we have out of towners coming.

Yeah, a lot of venues have already booked for 2020. We booked our venue in March 2019 and our wedding is in September 2020.

Most places book fast. Our wedding is not until 4/2021 and our #1 venue was already booked when we inquired.

I hope you find one soon 🤞🏼

I'm getting married in November 2020 and booked our venue in September. I thought that was early, but 1 of the 3 venues we toured was booked for our date already. They're just popular and were already booked for every Friday until 2021. In the last month I was contacting photographers and found that 2 of the 5 or so I contacted were booked too. I'm learning that there's apparently no such thing as too early for most aspects of planning.

I started looking at venues in June of this year and surprisingly a lot of dates were already taken for 2020. We ended up with August 1, 2020 which we’re happy with. I know a lot of people book their venues even 2 years before the wedding.

Honestly, I think changing your date depends on if you and your FH want one venue over another, and you're right, weddings close to Thanksgiving can be tricky b/c you don't want to mess with out-of-town guest's travel plans for the holiday. My FH and I booked our venue a little less than 2 months after we got engaged. We only did this because we got engaged in April of this year and our wedding is leap day; February 29, 2020; so we wanted to get a jump on it.

Most wedding venues we looked at were booked for our date, but luckily my #1 pick was open. We did have to put our deposit down fast to save the date b/c there were 2 other couples inquiring on it when we went for our tour.

We booked our venue October 2018 for our April 2020 wedding. If you guys aren't set on any particular date perhaps you could look for a different day. Or maybe that one venue, that is so overpriced, you can work out a deal with. Hope all works out for you!

It’s not a bad time to start looking and I think I you can still find a nice venue, but it might be harder. We booked ours in August 2019 for a November 2020 wedding. And by then our venue only had certain Sundays and Friday’s left, absolutely no Saturday’s.

Yeah I’m definitely feeling like a late bloomer now and I thought I was thinking ahead 💆🏾‍♀️ Hopefully we will find some luck somewhere or if worse case we change the date I think I’d be willing to.

I’d keep looking, my fiancé and I found a venue we loved and it was two weeks and a year from a potential date, we were looking for the second weekend of October but we ended up doing the third weekend instead which is two days before my birthday haha

We booked our venue in June 2019 for October 2020. I’ve realized that if you find a vendor/venue you love and can book do it sooner rather than later! I hope it works out for you both💕

Unfortunately the busy months book fast!! We booked our venue 18 months in advance along with the majority of our vendors for our June 2020 wedding. It's not that you're starting late, it's just everyone books earlier than the traditional 12 months in advance.

Depending on your situation, consider December! We booked in Jan 2019 for dec 2019 without a lot of difficulty (actually multiple venues had the first week of dec open).

We just got engaged in October, and both wanted an October wedding in 2020. A lot of places were booked, especially for Saturday’s. One venue that we were going to look at and was tempted to do a Friday night wedding, had a cancelation for a September 2020 Saturday the day we went and toured, so we jumped on it! You can always ask places to be placed on a call list if someone does cancel (which is sad but 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️)

Can you consider a Friday night if you want a party dance vibe? Or a Sunday brunch for a fun yet intimate event? You can likely get a Nov date and save money on a non-Saturday.

My fiancé and I got engaged in February and booked our venue at the end of that month for a May 2020 wedding. You would think a year in advance would give you some time to book but it always depends on the venue. Good luck in your search. Hopefully you fall in love with a venue that can give you your date.

Everyone is just doing everything earlier and earlier. That totally sucks my wedding is in 2021 and I booked it already

We booked in February 2019 for August 2019, so it really depends on where you are. We got married in NYC, so there was a *lot* to choose from...

Don't give up! You'll find something!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who booked in advance. A lot of people kept asking why was my wedding date so far out. It’s January 2021 and I became engaged this past September.

Some venue's don't book a year advance but thankful that ours did.
