I have approx. 50 guests in a 300 person venue and I’m thinking it might be best to cancel before I make my next payment Venue is too big 1

Is there a way for them to split up the room so it would be smaller? Like can they put a partition up or something so youre only using part of the room?

It might be nice to have all that space to social distance people out more for the reception? Looks like your wedding is Septem2020? Smiley smile unless it is way too big, the pictures don't look overly big.

You can do ten tables of 5 instead of doing 5 tables of ten. Spread them out a little further in between and away from the walls. Are you doing a buffet style ? If so the food section could take up a good amount of space if you put a good distance in between each station.

Can you separate a ceremony space from reception and the dinner. Have long reception tables? My friend even had a separate dessert/cake cutting nook in her large space. Don’t give up on your vision just yet if you can make it work!

I do have a company coming to hang drapes from the ceiling so that should help make the space look a little smaller.. and I think I may call them and see if they could actually do some sort of draped partition to separate the space. Corona just has me going a little wedding crazy right now because ours is in September and it’s hard to not overthink with everything going on. I think we can do 9-10 round 72in tables and we have buffet style food (but there’s a separate nook for that off to the left). We do still have a guest book, cake, bar, and dj table... but I noticed that many people who have “too large venues” are putting 150 people in a 250-300 people space and mine is 50 in a 300 so I started to worry it may be too too big.

We have additional outdoor space as well where our ceremony will be held. I booked this venue because we originally were going to elope but my mom/aunt/sister talked me into having something bigger, and this was the only venue with our date that late to the game. I love the venue and the outdoor space, it’s just the size that puts me on edge.

Definitely keep the space. Drapery or other rentals could reduce it. You could instead use drapery or rentals to split it up for ceremony, cocktails, receptions. You could get really creative with ceremony and reception seating given social distancing.

Especially because we don't know how things are going to be in September - keep the space. Work with your venue to break up the space and get creative with social distancing fun.

Think about it this way: you'll have a fantastically huge dance floor!
