carel, on February 7, 2016 at 9:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Hello everybody!

i have discovered this website less than a week ago and im loving it. i see that everyone is always ready to give a hand, so here i am in need of help!

my fiancee and i are planing a very small wedding 45-50 people. we dont have a lot of money and would like to find a nice and affordable if not cheap venue for our reception. something that could have a nice view and still feel really intimate at the same time.

i hope someone will be able to help us, im looking but i dont seem to find anything really!

What part of Virginia? I'm getting married at a winery in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Southwest Virginia.

Yeah, you have to be a little more specific on location. Southern and Central VA are a lot different than Northern VA.

In the northern part of Virginia, i live in Alexandria but wouldn't mind going 45min-1h away from there

Morrison House in Alexandria specializes in small weddings but it might be pricey. My friend had hers at an art gallery on a Friday and I think it was reasonable. I can't remember the name though.

I'm getting married at Potomac Point Winery in Stafford. Not exactly cheap for my wedding, but I think they have options outside of their ballroom like their barrel room and wine cave that might be nice for a small reception. Good luck!

Try restaurants. Maybe look at Sweetwater tavern, the sterling one has a nice deck on a pond and I believe you can rent it for no fee if you have a certain number of people.

I grew up in Fairfax and still have a lot of friends up there. I've been to a few weddings at some Wineries around Leesburg. What about doing something at Great Falls or any of the parks up there?

Im sorry to say but cheap and northern virginia do not go in the same sentence. A restaurant or park might be a good option.

Put it this way my sil had an average wedding with buffet style food in Nova and spent 40k. We are going to bethany beach for almost the same thing with a plated dinner for 13k.

I had a perfectly lovely wedding in NoVA for around 25k. No, it isn't cheap, but I had more than 40 guests. It's certainly doable, she just needs to be open to alternatives.

OP, I think Maggiano's also has decent prices. Someone who used to be here got married at the one in Tyson's on a budget.

FH and I are working to have a nice wedding for just under $15k in Loudon County. It's tough, but doable. We're putting most of our money into the really important things - food and booze - and scrimping a bit on the rest. We're forgoing fresh flowers entirely; any flowers we do have will be DIYed from paper, and we've already said screw trying to fit STDs and favors into there.

Our venue is a banquet hall in a recreation center, so that's another idea for you to look into.

Hi. I’m planning to have my wedding at PPW next fall. If I’m not mistaken they handle the catering as well. How much did yours cost if you don’t mind me asking? Thanks

In 2016 the venue fee for a Saturday in early November was 7900. Catering for 128 guests including ice cream bar (10/head), pasta bar (9/head), open wine and reserve beer (30.5/head), and buffet (60/head, cheapest selection) came to $14.3k before taxes and fees. I imagine the prices have gone up and that does not include linens, dinnerware, and other necessities.

The venue costs just the same but since they won’t accept outside caterers it might be over my budget to have my wedding there. Thank you so much for your response.♥️

Sorry to hear! It was a beautiful venue and they really do provide amazing service and food. We would not have been able to do it without the support of our families though. If you’re interested in other Stafford area vendors and want some recommendations, I’m happy to help.

Yeah that would be great.😊 My fiancé and I would like to take care of everything as much as possible. I’ll check the venue next week with my future in laws. If they like it too then I wouldn’t refuse their help.😝
