Venue doubts

Emily, on February 18, 2017 at 9:48 AM Posted in Planning 0 22

We just booked our venue a week ago, and I feel a bit of doubt about it. Has anyone felt this way after booking?

You should share photos so we can reassure you that it's great.

I have doubts about mine only because our wedding has to be early and we can't play loud music. But it's absolutely beautiful. Sad face

@gymrat I am not sure why I have this feeling. I loved it the few times I saw it but now that it's locked in I'm feeling nervous.

I think your venue looks beautiful! I had some nonspecific doubts after I booked, just because it was such a big and expensive decision and I was worried I'd made a mistake. I had the same feeling after I went away to college, accepted my job(s), bought my car, bought my wedding dress. I just second guess stuff like that. Is that the kind of doubt your feeling? Or is there something specific, or another venue you saw, that's making you question it?

@sarah I think I'm the same as you. Also I saw another venue I LOVED before this one, but there was not an outside area and both FH and I did want an outdoors ceremony which is why we went with this one.

My doubts definitely are non specific, my only issue with this venue is the late start time of 7:30PM- but I am trying to make it earlier.

Emily I wish I can make mine later and have a later reception. I have to find a place for our reception and hope it's close to the venue.

I had doubts about my venue, too. It's in our local metropark in a big banquet tent that's used for weddings on the lake, but I had doubts because I thought at first the tent was ugly (but it's really not) and I didn't like the fact that the park has a high entrance fee for everyone (which we will be covering). My SO wanted the venue, though, because it's our favorite park and we love the outdoors. I only agreed to it because the ceremony location was going to be in the woods, but because of transportation issues, we had to change it to the lake outside of the tent. I was heartbroken, but I am okay with everything now, though.

Have you tried their food? Would they have an Open House soon?

Talk to your coordinator and ask if you can attend to one. I have also been to ours while events are setting up since we booked in winter and was empty. I plan to sneak in again the weekend before to see how the gardens are blooming Smiley smile

They have one coming up! That's a great idea. I also only viewed the venue in the middle of winter, and I'm having a spring wedding so I will go view it around the same time this year Smiley smile

I think it is perfectly normal to have a bit of "buyers remorse" whenever you commit to spend a large amount of money on something. This has happened to me multiple times in my life for various things. In the end, I'm always very happy with my decision.
