Venue does not offer time for a Rehearsal?

Kelly, on June 19, 2014 at 2:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

My venue is does not give a specific time for Rehearsal... in fact they were very rude about it stating "It's a square room you can do the rehearsal anywhere" so my question is has any one else had their run through somewhere else outside of the wedding venue?

I've heard of a lot of people doing this - but it kind of stinks they were rude about it. If it's not a complicated space you could do it somewhere else. But still...the rudeness would piss me off.

My venue is booked all weekend. We are not running a rehersal at the venue. I agree with the rehearsing anywhere thing.

My wedding is on a sunday, so ours wasn't sure if the could get us in if there was an event the night before. I just expect to do something quickly and hopefully there. If it can't be done there, then we'll manage!!

We were going to do it elsewhere because there is another wedding there the day of our rehearsal. We just found out that the wedding doesn't start until 7pm so we'll just go in before hand. I wasn't concerned though, as long as we got the configuration/timing down, I didn't care where we did it.

I agree with we could do it elsewhere but yes I was not pleased with her attitude whatsoever... And after I already booked I read ALL of the reviews named this lady and said she was awful to deal with. So I'm trying to avoid her at all cost going forward if possible. It should be that big of an issue and actually should be able to for the most part run through it that morning since we have the room from 8am-2am and just make sure the groom is not there since he will mainly be standing there lol... Sorry this dawned on me as I was typing Smiley smile

Their attitude sucks, but most venues in my area don't do them on separate days anymore, with Thursday and Friday weddings begin so popular. Rehearsing more than a day ahead isn't all that effective; rehearsing in another space is pointless.

You don't need to rehearse; the venue director/maitre d will send your bridal party out in a timely way; the DJ or band needs to know cues, the officiant should help with this, that's it.

My venue doesn't either. "Technically" we can rent an hour or two the day before BUT if a couple comes in wanting to do a wedding that day, it gets cancelled and you get refunded. We're getting married on a Saturday, and I'm sure someone will pick the Friday before. I'm not too worried about it.

As long as my venue has no other commitments the day before, I can do a rehearsal there. So right now it's not 100% guaranteed I get one. I am going to find out weds at the food tasting.
