Venue Distance

Is 1 hour and 45 minutes too far to ask my guests to drive? I don’t want to inconvenience anyone but the place I want to have it is beautiful and secluded in the woods for a more rustic vibe. It also has private treehouses and cabins that the guests can rent for the night and a honeymoon treehouse for my FH and I to stay the whole weekend in. I feel like I’ve definitely driven almost 2 hours for a wedding before and had no problem with it, some others in my family think otherwise. What do you guys think?

As long as there are local places for your guests to stay, I don't see a problem with it.

Between the reception and the ceremony? Way too far for me. I've never been more than 30 minutes.

No, sorry should’ve clarified. The ceremony and the reception will be at the same place.

My venue was 2 hours away from me and most of my guests. I just made sure to set up a courtesy block at some nearby hotels for accommodations, and about 75% of my guests showed up Smiley smile

If the ceremony and reception will be at the same place then nope! Just make sure there are accommodation options for guests.
It does sound like a lovely location!

It sounds beautiful. I would just contact a local hotel and get a good rate to offer people to stay over.

It’s fine. People have destination weddings that are thousands of miles away. As long as there are places to stay in the area and you know the majority of your guests could afford it, I don’t see a problem.

I think that's perfectly fine! People have destination weddings, and those are A LOT farther away. That people that love you and want to be there won't think anything of it.

(P.s. I'm driving 11 hours to Kansas in about a week for a wedding so I think it'll be fine).

I personally enjoy when weddings can be used like a little getaway for hubby and I!

That is hard to say because I have family who like myself will be driving 4 or more hours to my wedding and they don't mind, but I also have family who wouldn't drive 20 minutes to attend a bridal shower.

That’s what I was thinking, my FH and I always get a hotel room when we go to weddings because it feels like a mini vacay (or maybe because we usually party harder than everyone else) but we’re just gonna go with...we like the getaway 😂

Same here! That’s why I was questioning it. But, if people aren’t willing to drive a little out of their way for something so important to us...then they just aren’t worth worrying about 🤷🏻‍♀️

Agreed! I have went to many wedding where I have had to drive two or more hours, but because that person is important to me I made the drive each time with no complaint.

Is that for everything or ceremony to the reception?

Oops just seen it's been clarified.

People travel more now than ever before and so most people have Family and friends spread out. Less than 2 hours is not much I don't think

We have a couple of guests driving about 6 hours. Now that is a parent and some close relatives but an hour and a half is completely acceptable to me. I have driven much further for several weddings.
