Venue Dilemma

Free, on September 3, 2019 at 10:02 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

Hello All,

My fiancé and I have the vision to celebrate our special day at a loft style venue. We have visited quiet a few locations and all were beautiful in their own way, however, it was not the look we were going for. We came across a private venue that is PERFECT for the look we are trying to achieve. The issue is, the space in located in a sketchy Philadelphia neighborhood and there in no parking lot leaving our guests to find street parking. Obviously we can book a banquet hall that provides ample parking in a more desirable area but its not the original design we had in mind. So the question is, do I book the banquet hall to cater to our guests comfort or the loft space that is our style but not the best outside factors?

Are you going to have lots of out of town that will be getting a hotel, or out of the area guests who would feel comfortable using something like Uber to get to the venue? If you could rent a shuttle for your guests to use, and as long as it's not an unsafe place for people to be waiting for rides, I think it could still be ok even if parking isn't great.

Will there be a hotel block somewhere that you would be able to have a shuttle back and forth to? How many guests are we talking about? I’m from NJ so I know that Philly is awful with parking and can go from beautiful to sketchy in 1 block. I would ask the venue what they normally have people do for parking.

That is a great idea. I'll see what the shuttle options are available to and from the venue.

Yes! Literally one block in the city can completely change the neighborhood. I have approx. 100 guests coming. For some, it will not be an issue because they are familiar with the area but I'm more concerned about the elder family. The venue suggested hiring a valet which is an option, or the shuttle service may work well too.

I would say keep looking or figure something out with parking. I would be pretty ticked if I had to find street parking in a sketty area of Philly.

Book it! But provide a shuttle from the hotel!
