Venue coordinator change

laura, on October 27, 2015 at 11:27 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I just got an email that the coordinator for my venue is leaving! Has anyone else been through this? Please put my mind at ease.

I was reassigned a coordinator about a month or two ago because mine was "no longer with the company." Really, it could be for the best...I think mine was. (we were already having some communication issues with her at that point, so really I was relieved) You still have quite a bit of time before your wedding, so I'm assuming you hadn't gone over too many fine details yet with the original coordinator? Even if you had, there's still more than enough time to get the new one up to speed. I don't think there's anything to worry about...now if it happened a couple weeks out from your date, then I might be freaking out a bit!

Laura, this happens all the tim, so now worries. You have time, so no worries. I'd call them and make an appointment (November is the perfect time; no holiday parties and not into January booking season) and go over the big picture. Make sure you have all the details with everyone else (dj, florist, officiant) in place too.

    Yes, you will be fine!

I had 3 different coordinators. I found out the morning of the wedding that ours quit & everything was fine. I agree with Celia, make an appointment to meet them.

This happened to us. Granted, we booked our venue 15+ months in advance and the turnover at our venue actually helped us I think. The new crew is way more on top of things it seems. I'm pretty confident everything will go smoothly from here on out.

You still have time before the wedding to get to know the new coordinator! Good luck!

I am on my third venue coordinator. Wedding is less than two weeks out now and I just got this latest one 3 weeks ago. If your venue handles it the same as mine it should be okay. Every bit of communication I had with the previous coordinators has been passed along and I can tell she thoroughly reviewed it. She has actually mentioned a few things that I haven't thought about for over a year now!

Yep. Happened 18 days before my wedding. I have nothing to say that can put your mind at ease except at least you have PLENTY of time to hash things out with the new person. That's a luxury I didn't have.

Yes, it does happen all the time.

A venue coordinator is an employee of the venue. If you are having your wedding in a desired venue, then you can trust that the new coordinator has been properly vetted. Of course, there are exceptions, but they are few and far between.

I agree with scheduling a meeting! It stinks to have to review everything again with him/her but will put your mind at ease knowing YOU ARE ON TOP OF IT even if the venue wasn't. They you aren't worrying. Just email him/her and say that you heard they are new and you'd like to set up a time to meet them and bring them up to speed.

Our venue coordinator changed 3 months before our wedding. She was so eager to do well and make a reputation for herself with the organization that she went above and beyond expectations.
