Venue contracts

on April 8, 2020 at 11:45 AM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi everyone, we thought we decided on a venue and was sent a contract, which we haven’t signed. The following day we decided to do a church ceremony, and the venue location would be inconvenient for most of our guests due to our ceremony location (too far of a drive). There’s another venue we’d like to book with, and if we haven’t signed the contract for the first venue we are still free to book other venues? Sorry if this is a naive question. I feel pretty bad for the amount of time they spent with us doing virtual tours and phone calls, but it doesn’t work out logistically.

If you haven't signed anything you aren't obligated to go with that venue. We toured seven venues in total. Venues know there is no guarantee when they communicate with you that you will be them. You have nothing to feel bad about. I would definitely go with a venue that would make more sense for traveling.

As long as you have not signed anything, you are not obligated to do anything.

If you haven’t signed anything and/or made a deposit you are absolutely not obligated to sign.
I would personally send an email to the venue saying you changed your mind (you can go into details if you want) and thank them for their time.

If you haven’t signed anything then you’re not obligated to chose that venue. I would just email them and let them know that after further consideration the venue is not a fit due to the location and you decided to go with someone else but you appreciate all their time and effort and will keep them in mind for future events.

Exactly what the other PPs said, if nothing has been set in stone and agreed and signed yet, you're all good!

Just tell them it isn't going to work out and maybe you can leave them a good review for spending so much time doing virtual tours. Reviews are very important to vendors!
