Venue communication issues

Erin, on April 26, 2017 at 9:17 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Has anyone else had issues with communicating with their venue? We have been trying to set up a time to visit the venue again and finalize the food and get some questions answered. I have emailed and asked twice so far and it takes about a week to get a response from the lady. Im really losing my patience but I don't want to be a complete bitch but I think this is really unprofessional, esp when we are forking over 10k to them.

Thoughts?

My venue has been pretty easy to get in touch with the owner added me on FB and i can shoot her a FB message at any time. She also sent us home with a packet and timeline of when to schedule tastings etc. I haven't had too many questions and any last minute questions would be answered at our final meeting 2 weeks before the event. It's also the busiest time of year for weddings so maybe they are slightly delayed. I would call again or make a trip over there during business hours.

Call. A lot of vendors don't respond to email, especially now that this is their busy season. A phone call works wonders.

Our venue coordinator drives me insane, and this is one of the reasons I am so glad we have a wedding planner, so that she can be the one to deal with her. She is the exact same way, never responds to emails, plays phone tag, but won't leave relevant information on the voicemail, just says to call her back.

The icing on the cake was when we scheduled our walk through with the planner, caterer, florist and the venue coordinator.. she completely disappeared. Did not participate what so ever. If it wasn't for my wedding planner who has hosted several weddings at this location assuring us that everything will be okay, and this is just how she is, I would have walked away from the venue long ago.

I am sorry this is happening, but from my experience it is pretty typical Unprofessional.. but typical.

Our venue manager is acting like complete space cadet as well. She wont answer the phone because her "throat hurts" and she is bad at email because she figures it is easier to call. It seems like a never ending cycle.... BUT we are very persistent when we call her.... sometimes we have to call every day for a few days in a row before we get some one to pick up...

You're not alone. Keep trying to communicate and DOCUMENT when you are trying to get a hold of her and if she answers or not. If she is really a poor communicator, then you could probably bring that to their attention and effect some change.

How stressful for you! The coordinator at our venue is amazing...I email her probably at least a couple times a week with random questions that pop into my mind and she always gets back to me immediately. She has made me feel so comfortable during this process! For over $10k, you should definitely be getting better service. I would express your feelings to the venue AND in a review on wedding wire. One of the reasons I chose my venue is because all the reviews said how awesome their coordinator is to work with. Make sure you let other brides know what your experience has been!

MY venue coordinator is absolutely amazing and so is the general manager. I love that I can get in touch with them with no issues - no matter how busy they are, they always accommodate my needs. So far, so good.

I am sorry you're dealing with this situation.. I would not be happy about it. Did you research them before booking? I did an extensive research. Little things like that matter to me.

Yeah we are very familiar with the venue and their sister location owners are friends of the family which could be a last ditch effort to get these people in check!

My venue was great with prompt responses, but I definitely suggest giving your venue a phone call! Some people respond better to phone or email or text, figure out what works best for them!

Ugh...yes!!! Glad I'm not the only one. Seems like as soon as we signed the contract and put down the deposit they suddenly stopped their prompt responses...shocker.
