Hello Brides,

Two days ago I got an email from my venue saying that they have closed. They will no longer be able to have my ceremony/reception at the place. I am 2 months out from my wedding day. They have told us that it may take up to 60 days to get a full refund. This venue had everything included. The linen, meals, ceremony hall, reception hall, bridal suite, groom suite, and decorations was included in the venue. What I am asking from all of you are good sites where I can find good vendors online that was helpful. I am going to be looking into things as well, I just no longer have room for error. Please find a way to sympathize and help a bride out(: Thank you!

I'd threaten legal action if you don't get an immediate refund. If they are bankrupt or in foreclosure, you will be creditor number "it doesn't matter because the huge creditors that regularly supplied them will have to settle for pennies on the dollar, and you...ehhh...not so good".

Get to an attorney at once. I don't know if it will help, but a strongly worded, threatening letter might get you something back. If you don't get any answer, speak to your local press. If there are others in your area who are suffering the same fate (and there are), a local story could (and often does) prompt other local venues to step up and offer you, the stiffed brides, a great deal. It's good publicity for them as the reporter will often mention the names of venues who are offering to help, and since you're getting married in the off season, other venues might still have dates open (or you might have to change your date -- but it's worth it).

Get busy...first with the lawyer, then with the venues, and finally, with the press. That's what I'd do. In this awful situation, it's every bride for herself.

And ladies, if there were ever a compelling advertisement for wedding insurance, this is it. For mere pennies on the dollar (when it comes to what you handed over to a venue), you could have every dollar refunded to you. This stuff happens more than it should, and in this day and age, I'd consider wedding insurance a wedding expense. Cut the flowers if you have to (damn, I actually said that), and get wedding insurance.

I'm in Tacoma Washington and we are doing our wedding at a golf course in Bremerton! Look into other golf courses- they are reasonably priced and the ones with restaurants will take care of food, tables, place settings, linens, decorations, etc! Hope this helps

What a total nightmare! I'd say call any other vendors you've booked (photographer, dj, cake, whatever) and tell them what's happened. They'll have lots of connections in the region and should be able to help you find some hidden gems. Also, go back to your original venue list for any that would be acceptable, and call them with the situation.

On the bright side, anywhere that's still available only 2 months out may give you a break on the cost - which could put some more expensive venues within your reach.

That's horrible! So sorry you're going through this. Look up some venues tonight, make a list of some potentials, and get calling. Good luck!

Oh my I know how you feel. 69 days till my wedding and I found out that there is mold, and I'm waiting to find out if it will be finished by my wedding. I'm freaking out and trying to find a plan B. I've been looking on here for vendors and some give you the prices. Best of luck my fellow anxious bride.

    *HUGS*

Have a drink. Don't think about it too late and don't let it ruin your week.

I know this isn't helpful AT ALL, but everything WILL work out and you will still get to marry your FH.

SO many hugs. Please keep us updated,

I am so so sorry!! This happened to me last month. I took a day to freak out and then got to replanning. Reach out to your vendors, they likely have connections that can help in a major way! It took almost a month but we finally have everything reset and ready to go. To be completely honest, I think wedding version 2.0 is going to be even better! Good luck to you!!!

Oh my goodness, this happened to me too, and I was devastated!! But, don't despair. I pulled it off, and you will too.

I agree with what the above posters have said. Tell your vendors what happened, and they will rally for you. There is a VERY strong vendor network in the Seattle/Tacoma area, and I have seen it over and over again on vendor FB boards where, for example, a photographer is helping a client find a hairstylist because hers just got in a car accident. Tell your photog, DJ, planner...any of your vendors and ask if they have connections with a venue in your budget. Good luck!!

Ugh that's terrible. what a mess.

I know you can make it work though.

GET ON THEM about the refund and then look everywhere.

Ask friends and family about where they've had events and you might be surprised to get places you woulnd't think about.

Also- look for local moose lodges, elks clubs, pavilions, etc.

I agree with asking your vendors for recommendations. Also talk to the venue you booked and ask them if they worked closely with a location that maybe had your date open. It's possible they may work with you given the circumstances. I don't know for sure but I feel it's worth a shot

I'm so sorry that's awful! I agree with PP to get to the vendor tab and start calling everywhere. There may be some less thought of venues you could go with. Maybe you can get a great deal elsewhere. Good luck and I hope it all works out!

That same thing happened to my coworker. She ended up doing cremomy and reception at a hotel, and it turned out really nice.

My stomache hurt for you as I read your post, can't imagine the stress of venue location closing. Not sure your location, but I am getting married at a one stop Wedding Chapel in Gatlinburg, TN. They have several weddings a day so if you are interested in a destination wedding with fewer family and friends, they can probably accommidate a date very close to your current wedding date and their packages include everything. In 30 minutes with a consultant, I basically had my whole wedding planned.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I would agree with the other ladies and say reach out to your vendors. It really is about connections.
