Venue change

Alisa, on January 23, 2020 at 11:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I'm having second thoughts about the venue we selected. I'm thinking about asking for the deposit back but even if they agree to that, I've already sent out Save the Dates with the location on it. It's still in the same area but a different city. Any thoughts?

Is there a reason you’re wanting to change the venue? I don’t think you’ll be able to get your deposit back and I assume it will be tough to find a new venue that has a Saturday open 6 months from now. You can always change save the dates and invitations I just worry it’ll be more hassle than it’s worth.

Someone recently posted funny “follow-up” save the dates with updated info due to change of plans. It can be done - just call the venue and see what they say.

Have you located another venue yet?

Your Invitations will have the new address on them.

Did you already research a new venue and know for sure they have your date available? How many guests will be coming from out of town? Are you other vendors willing to change to the new location? It sounds easy enough to just up and move to a new venue but once you have all these moving parts it might get tricky. Why are you wanting to change venue's so close to your date? If I were you, unless it was something major (big renovations, etc) I wouldn't change it now.

Did your STD have the actual venue name on it? They usually only have the city and state on them. So if you did it that way, it really does not matter. But you likely will not get your deposit back. I would make sure you have a new venue secured before backing out of your current one.

I'm just second guessing everything. One venue is right in the downtown, next to lots of hotels, the venue we booked is outside the city at a country club. I'm freaking out a little because some of the out of town guests, that I didn't really expect to attend, are saying they will come so now I'm looking at getting a shuttle which I was hoping to avoid. I think it's too it's too late to change the venue, and my FH prefers the place we booked. I just had a total Bridezilla moment. Thanks for feedback. It helped me come back to reality.

You picked your venue for a reason. You clearly loved it. You can’t pick things just because they are convenient for your guests. It’s your wedding, not theirs. They will figure it out 😉. I would continue on with everything as originally planned and try not to stress. Good luck with planning! 😃
