Venue carpet

Tia, on January 15, 2021 at 10:37 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
So my venue we picked, I absolutely love but the only con about it is it has brown and blue carpet in the reception area. It’s kinda driving me crazy. Do I completely ignore it and decorate the way I want? Or should I incorporate the colors of the carpet into my color scheme?

For me, it would depend on how bold the carpet is. If it wasn't too bad, then I'd be able to ignore it and decorate how I see fit. If it was something your eyes instantly get drawn to, then I'd try to come up with a way to fix it lol.

There are companies that provide dance floors for receptions. That may be an option to at least cover some of it? That's a good option if it's in your budget!

You could incorporate them into your colors, but it's not necessary!

Do you have a Decor company that you’re going through? They may be able to put a floating floor over it. Not sure how pricey that would get, but I think it’s doable. Do you have any pictures of the carpet by any chance?

Guests do not notice or care about the colors of a venue, whether it is the ceiling, carpet, chairs. Unless it's something super bold: graffiti art, clashing colors. Once they are inside and seated, it won't even register to them.

    Decorate however you wish.

This exactly. Even the most outlandish carpets (like, in a casino) fade away into the background with everything else going on in the space.

I'm going against the grain here. My SIL is an event planner and florist, and she recommended that it is easier to work with a space rather than against it. We adjusted our colors to coordinate with the carpet, wall, and chandelier colors. It wasn't what I initially planned, but it came out beautiful and cohesive, despite a kind of ugly carpet.

    THIS.

Please don't stress yourself out about the carpet.

Between the chairs, the tables, the dance floor, and *literally everything else*, anyone noticing or complaining about the carpet is going out of their way to be mean.
