Venue cancellation policy

Michelle, on October 4, 2019 at 1:14 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 3
The restaurant I am holding the reception at has a cancellation policy of 90 days. My mom thinks this is too much. Is this normal? What is everyone else’s cancellation policy? Thanks!!

What do you mean by a cancellation policy? Like before they’ll charge you more money? That’s pretty standard. At 60 days out or closer, if we had canceled, we would have owed the balance to our venue (catering included so would have been about 10k.

Yes exactly, before they charge you. Thanks for your answer!

I think that's pretty normal. After we booked our venue (14 months prior) with a $5,000 deposit, if we cancelled PRIOR to 90 days we still lost our deposit. If we cancelled 0-90 days out, we owed different percentages of the remaining $6,000.
