Venue burnt 45 days before wedding!

Krystle, on May 10, 2022 at 11:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
So 9 months of planning literally burnt down. I now have 32 days left until my June 11th wedding. It was in the mountains at 3pm but now it’s in the city at my church which will be way too hot in New Mexico so we’re planning a 10am to 1 pm wedding. I am SO SAD and feel like all this planning for 3 hours was such a waste! I know yes we will be getting married and that’s the most important part it is I know that but it feels like I will just be sitting on my couch at 4pm with my sister Grandma and Best man and his wife and it’s going to be so casual. What did you all do after your morning weddings? My backyard is hideous and wind is too crazy for a wedding tent I can afford (All my money went to venue that burnt and I don’t know when we will see it back the poor peoples homes burnt too so not bothering them) I kind of just want to complain to people who will understand all the mental work I had put into this 😅

I am sorry this happened to you! that is horrible for all involved.

Are you losing all the vendors with the venue as well? Do you still have catering?

Yes because my venue was out of town our vendors were nearby. My in laws offered to pay for catering this time though but we have to figure out what we want for brunch now.

First of all, I am so sorry you have been left I this predicament! My daughter had a brunch ceremony/reception in August and, while it was hot (92 degrees) it was tolerable. They had a tent, electric fans and held hand fans. Their meal included: breakfast sandwiches, frittatas, fruit salad, ham/bacon, country potatoes, pastries a mimosa and coffee/tea bar. The reception over by 4:30 so they reented a party bus to take bridal party/friends for night on town so they "didn't sit on couch with grandma after". Best wishes!

OMG I'm so SO sorry that happened!

A brunch wedding can be a great idea. I know it's not what you had, but it can be really really nice. Could you go out for a nice dinner after? Or maybe the party bus idea?

I truly hope you have an amazing day.

I like the party bus idea as well! or maybe a common hotel a few of you closest can stay at to keep the celebration going? Brunch is one of my fave

I am so sorry. That is absolutely awful and I can’t imagine how you feel. You’re right that the most important thing is that you’re still getting married, but dang that sucks.

I’m so sorry, I know you must be crushed! Brunch weddings can be fun and I was leaning that way at first. My friend had one at a state park. They did the ceremony and ate brunch and then everyone went hiking. You said your backyard is ugly but are there any good parks nearby or does a friend or family member have a backyard you could use? You could get married either at the church or outside and then everyone could eat and you could do yard games and even still do dancing if you wanted.

Maybe you could ask the church if you would be able to use their yard and instead of a tent, if there are trees available, you could just create a sort of canopy to block the sun. If you have decorations, maybe you could still put them around or hang them from the trees sort of thing. My reception is on a flat piece of grass with literally nothing so I am Pinterest-ing the heck out of it. I am so sorry this is happening though!! I know how annoying and time consuming planning can be so to have it literally go up in flames must be devastating Smiley sad

But you GOT THIS!!! At the end of the day, you and your partner will go have a blast somewhere doing very non-grandparent like activities.
