Venue and packaged decided...now what?

Amanda, on September 24, 2019 at 9:56 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hello! Me and my FH recently put deposits down on the venue + all inclusive package for November 2020. We ordered 'Save the Dates' since he is from the UK and his guests will need to know far in advance to book flights, take time off, etc..

Now, we're in a bit of a lull...it's like we rushed to plan and now have nothing to do but wait! What would you suggest doing now? I know we have to wait a while realistically before buying the dress, sending invites and all that good stuff. But at this point, what else is there to arrange with an inclusive package?

Our package includes the florist, photographer, caterer, hair and makeup, and cake; we opted out of a DJ. I genuinely can't think of anything else to do right now, but I want to plan!

I started planning right away once I was engaged, and had most of the big items checked off by Feb 2019. I will be getting married Nov 2019 and didn't have many things to get done until about 2 weeks ago! Now I feel I have a good amount of last minute things to accomplish. My best advice is once you get the main stuff done, take some time to just enjoy being an engaged couple (:

Hm will you have favors? Maybe you can work on designing any kind of signage you may have? That's also a good thing you did plan all that so you could have more time to enjoy yourselves

Have you gathered all of your addresses for STDs and Invites? Sometimes that can take a lot of time, so getting started as soon as possible is a good thing. You also might start thinking about decor--whether you're going to DIY, or what kind of look you are going for, etc.

Other than that, it sounds like you have everything under control. So, relax!! Enjoy being engaged.

Honestly I think a part of the problem is that we are in a LDR so I can only keep myself so busy. We see each other a few weeks/months out of the year so I think the planning keeps me excited in between.

I hope your planning goes well! You must be so excited :-)

I can start getting addresses together! I didn't even think of that...

I've definitely been spending a lot of time trying to get an idea of our theme/colors etc. So many options! Thank you for the advice!!

I've been leaning towards favors involving food so those will probably have to wait, but I'd like to find signage/other decor as we go along so it's not one big payment at the end.

    Thank you!

I would start working on small things. Although you have time you can look online for ideas for like your dress and bridesmaids dresses. Even though your package includes a florist and cake, you normally get to decide what type of flowers you want and the design of the cake so I would look at ideas. I know you said you opted not to have a DJ, but what are you doing for music or if you plan on having your bridal party and your husband and you introduced who is handling that?

I would gather inspo! Inspo on what you want your flowers, cake, overall vibe to be so you can later discuss this with your coordinator (unless you already have). I would also look into transportation for you & guests, lodging, and maybe begin honeymoon discussion. Maybe also start saving photos of wedding dresses you like/would possibly want to try on - remember some gowns can take up to 8 months to arrive!!

You can also think about the smaller details, like do you want to hand out favors, do you need anything for a grand exit, welcome sign, guestbook etc.

We are about 7 months out now and I pretty much had our entire wedding planned like 3 months into our engagement 😅 (got engaged Nov 2017, getting married April 2020)

    HAPPY PLANNING! 💕
