Venue Advice Wisconsin

FutureMrs, on February 13, 2012 at 10:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

We are looking for a venue for our reception that will be nice and cost friendly. We will have about 80-100 people in attendance for a Sunday afternoon wedding. Any suggestions?

We are pretty much open to anything in the southern half of the state but would rather it be near Milwaukee or Platteville (yes I know they are on opposite sides of the state)

This is where we are having our reception. The prices are extremely reasonable and it is absolutely beautiful! The owner is extremely nice as well. They have a large selection of foods to choose from. I know it is not close to Milwaukee or Platteville, but we love our venue!

    Indoor or outdoor??

I am having my ceremony/reception at Rotary Botanical Garden in Janesville...

And I personall love (ohhh- and work) at Boerner Botanical Garden... The Ceremony space is reasonable but I know its a bit pricy for a reception (but lots of MKE options around there!)

@Courtney thanks for sharing Your venue requires that a cake be brought from a licensed bakery and my mom and I are making mine. We are Wilton certified but do not have a bakery license. Thanks for the idea tho I will keep it in mind.

@Jessica the Boerner was too pricey and the gardens are very public to have a wedding (I have seen many weddings while visiting) but very good idea I will have to check into the Rotary Botanical Garden.

We would ideally like to be married at our church in Platteville, but our families are mostly from MKE so if we had it in P-ville it would be kind of a destination wedding of sorts I guess...since it will be in August and the date is of significance to us we feel that it will probably be too hot or there will be too many mosquitoes to have an outdoor reception. So we are trying to find an indoor venue. That said we are kind of going for a general feel of Vintage country chic so a clean barn would be perfect. So far not much luck although continued...

I am looking into this venue currently but it is early so I want to get a better idea of what is all out there.

Also since FH and I are both college students and will be new grads we are trying to keep the budget as low as possible while still having a nice elegant wedding.

Polish Center (in Franklin) I have never been there for a wedding but I know a few couples that have gotten married here.

Serb Hall - the food is amazing but I have never been to a wedding there!

I guess the Milwaukee Public Market does weddings... if you want that loft/chic wedding it could be a cool place to check out...

Aliiotos (never been there but have heard awesome things!)

Also, the Milwaukee War Memorial does weddings. Its probably the cheapest one of the list and books up REALLY FAST! If you want to get married overlooking Lake Michigan OR have family in the service this would be a great option!

Another bride on here is using Bluemound Gardens for her reception site. I dont know much about it besides driving past it to work most days...

    Any of those help??

Ours is all at lakeside park in fond du lac. has really really pretty grounds on lake Winnebago, a lighthouse and flower beds all over. we are renting the gazebos and pavilion for the whole day/night for $286, and get $50 back later. there are a good amount of catering places in the area. I know this is more north than you mentioned, but if you are interested shoot me a msg Smiley smile good luck!!!

They give discounts for weddings on uncommon days of the week and off season. We are having the ceremony and the reception there.

I’m having my wedding/reception at the DeKoven Center in Racine. I know its not Milwaukee, but the venue is beautiful. The grounds are just amazing and right across the street is Lake Michigan. They do have a choice of two reception halls and there is a small chapel on site.
