VENT: Blah, I got screwed by an etsy seller

I ordered my guestbook from etsy. I specifically chose someone who had 800 reviews. The guestbook had a long lead time of 8 weeks and I ordered it on October 20th. So the week before last, I "conversationed" the seller on etsy to ask how it was going and I got an auto-reply that they're busy crafting away and to contact them via their external email. Well I did that too and didn't hear back. I went over to the receipt to click on the seller and it's showing up as an "oops that page doesn't exist" type of error. But I can see her last four reviews, all from december. All four of them are angry brides who never received their items and no contact from the seller. The shop appears to be closed on etsy now.

While I can easily get a new guestbook in time, I'm actually D: D: D: about the money. It wasn't a cheap order and because of the long lead time, I exceed the 45 days requirement on paypal to file a dispute. :-\ I'm going to contact paypal today.

    I'm going to contact paypal today to see if there is something they can do, as well as my credit card company. I don't know if it will work out, but that SUCKS man. I was already D: about anything with a long lead time on etsy for this reason.

    Yeah here's the sucky part. $200. D: D: D: It was this custom scrapbook number and I definitely, definitely overspent. Here's a picture of an example of it.

    Ughh!!! I am sorry this happened to you. Definitely frustrating!!! Hopefully you find something else soon and I would definitely contact PayPal asap even if it is past the time frame. This is why I am always leery about shopping on etsy!

    Yes contact PayPal and don't take no for an answer, they would see the emails, before the 45day cut off so you should be cool. Good luck

    I didn't email the seller through paypal though. I emailed her through etsy and I didn't contact her before 45 days was over because the lead time on the guest book was 8 weeks (56 days).

    That sucks that you've lost so much money. This is why regardless of the processing time, if it's inching close to the 45 day mark I open a case with Paypal. I understand people might get busy and maybe even overflowing with orders, but nothing should take 8 weeks to make.

    Definitely contact Paypal and send them transcripts of your conversations with the seller. Some people purposely make the time longer so you will lose Paypal protection. I hope you get your money back!

    Yeah, I totally didn't think about it since she had such good reviews up until recently. I'm on the phone with paypal right now. I've heard they're a good company, so hopefully it works out. D:

    Go to the Etsy Forums, there are TONS of posts like these, with results that usually favor the buyer, but you might have to contact Etsy directly.

    Welp, they just told me I have to contact my CC for this, but they will at least assist my CC after I've called them lol.

    Oh that freaking blows. I would be seriously pissed. That's not cool at all, they need to seriously give you your money back. It's not like you got the product and just aren't happy with it, you didn't get it at all and it shouldn't matter how many days have gone by.

    Not what you wanted to hear probably, but i love that guest book Smiley sad Hope it all gets sorted out! Give us an update if you can remember because I have a few things I was going to order on Etsy and I'm curious

    Well I filed the dispute with Chase. I have no idea how long that will take or what will happen. I specifically looked for someone who had a ton of positive reviews because etsy people aren't always reliable. My other etsy purchases have all arrived or are shipping right now. :-\

    Yea I would've spent the $200 on that guest book too! That really sucks! Were they located in the US too? I avoid anything from over seas. I've never had a good experience with shops over seas. I hope you get your money back!
