Vendors that don't email you back?

FutureMrsHadi, on March 30, 2021 at 8:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I'm just frustrated and need to rant a bit.

But does anyone else have this problem? We booked our bartender a long time ago and she came highly recommended, and when we booked her she was great, no problem with communication, etc. (This has been about a year and a half now, since we've had to reschedule because of COVID). It got difficult trying to get an answer from her regarding rescheduling, but I didn't really think that much of it since, ya know, COVID. But ever since then trying to get a hold of her to ask questions and change menu items/quantities has been like pulling teeth.

So now we are coming up on our wedding day (May 23rd) and my venue requires that our bartender provides a copy of the liquor license and a phone number for the day of contact 60 days before. And we passed that deadline last week. I have been emailing probably for a month now, trying to get this info from her well in advance and nothing.

I don't know what to do. We've already paid half the total for a deposit, so it's not like I can just find another bartender. But the lack of communication makes me feel nervous about if she's even going to show up.

This is a common problem with a LOT of vendors.

Do you have a phone number or a physical location where you can reach her? Or social media?

Also, I'd just drop the, "since you have not provided the needed paperwork, we will be looking elsewhere," line, and see if that gets you anywhere.

This unfortunately is very common amongst the wedding industries. Id keep calling, texting emailing about 100 times in a day. Just keep bugging her and annoying her. Plus if she has a place that she does business out of I'd totally go there.

I had this issue before with a vendor and I just made sure I was as annoying as can be with calling, texting and emailing until this person finally answered me back. I think I filled up their voice mail every day to the point where I don't think they could get anymore voice mails. They finally answered me back I think after a week.

Hearing that this is common makes me wide eyed and extremely nervous for my own wedding LOL. I haven't had to deal with this, but I would suggest reaching out to her on all forms, by phone first, and then maybe the same message via text and email. I would send her a text and email saying that it is crucial that you get the paperwork you need in order to use her services for your wedding. You could maybe end it with "If you aren't able to provide this documentation, we will, unfortunately, have to use another vendor for this service."

This is no fun! I'm sorry you're having to chase vendors around so close to your big day!!

I wish I could do that, but we’ve already paid so much money to this vendor that we can’t really afford to lose that deposit and hire someone else.

Does it say in the contract that it is nonrefundable?

Get on the phone. Don't rely on email as your only contact.

If you have a phone number, I'd contact them that way! Doesn't answer, leave a voicemail. I'd also go to any business social media they have and contact them through there.
