Vendors Cashing Deposits..

Mrs. Nicole, on September 15, 2015 at 9:50 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

How long are yours taking?

My venue did it within a few days.

My DJ and photographer took...2 months.

My officiant was instantly over Google Wallet.

I'm now at 3 weeks with my Hair/Make Up...

Is this normal? Maybe I'm confused because at my job we are rushing checks to the bank twice a week, but. Why wait 3 months, risk bouncing my check, when you could have bounced it immediately, said screw you, and booked someone else in that spot the entire time? Or am I just being weird?

I have the money obviously, I just hate worrying about it being in there. Cash my check! Or I worry that they lost my check and I don't have my contract secured.

2 months! Oh my god I would be so annoyed. All my vendors so far have been within a week. The venue we paid in cash.

Most of mine were within 4-10 days.

But my passport checks... I submitted them for processing in July and we got the passports about 3 weeks ago. Checks still haven't been cashed. I find that really weird.

ETA: My bank does free certified checks, so I try to use them instead because the money comes out right away.

My photographer takes the longest, at two weeks from the time he gets my check. Sometimes it's annoying because then it looks like I have money in my bank account that isn't actually there. I do t get upset though, it's wedding season.

I used cash or email transfers. I hate using cheques for this reason so I generally don't. I always make sure to get a receipt with specifics on it.

Almost everyone did it immediately. My photographer took well over a month, and it took several emails to remind him. After 3 weeks he took a trip to China, and still hadn't cashed it. It was really frustrating.

We used our Chase Sapphire card for almost every vendor. The points are getting us a free honeymoon (if we can get time off of work since we're both new) and we're flying out 2 of the BM's. All we pay is $25 in tax. Anyway.... Chase has a really good protection plan for all purchases. They'll fight tooth and nail over fraudulent charges.

Oh man I hate this! I haven't run into this with wedding vendors yet, but I started issuing checks online through my bank to my landlord for this exact reason Smiley smile

That seems odd and I would be super annoyed! We have paid all of our deposits by credit card or e-transfer so it's immediate.

My officiant still hasn't cashed the DEPOSIT check that was sent back in like april! Or the remaining balance check (which I had to send two of because he 'never got' the first one) and I don't know the check number to cancel it so I am freaking out.

2 months is a long time. But sometimes vendors like to cash all the checks at once so they deposit everything every 2 weeks or even once a month. Not me! I cash all the checks I get as soon I as I can cause knowing me Ill miss place it.

I feel like the longer you wait, the more likely people are going to forget and you can possibly bounce the check! Haha it's such a small non important problem but i hate looking at my balance and then doing the math in my head to see my real balance.

Mine were all within about a week from them getting the checks.

We paid a lot of ours way our in advance, I did checks so I would have a electronic copy of cashed checks, just in case someone said you didn't pay me for this or that. Yes we did, got the proof right here of the cashed check.

Oh my that's a long wait! We used my credit card for the venue abs additional services, and for the photographer we just transferred through PayPal.

So far everyone took their deposit within 48hrs of us sending it. The venue instantly took my deposit since I paid in cash, other than that everyone else was internet banking. Wow that surprising about your DJ and the photographer!

2 months is outrageous! Can you e-mail to make sure they have it?
