Vendor tipping

Autumn, on December 12, 2019 at 10:08 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
I’ve heard when you purchase a vendor (catering, photo, etc.) you’re supposed to tip them (not including original price paid). How much is the right amount? I don’t want to tip too much or too little. TIA

Hey Autumn! I've used this article on WeddingWire to help with who/how much we're going to tip our vendors. Hope it helps Smiley smile

Honestly, I'm not a proponent of tipping as a concept. If you own your own business you should set your rate and be paid what we agreed on.

My vendors are aware to add the gratituty to the bill in advance.

We tipped 15-20%, based on service, just like we would if someone provided us a non-wedding related service. The only vendor that wasn’t tipped 15-20% is our catering staff because they served stations instead of serving guests directly.

Before tipping, check the contract. Sometimes gratuity is already accounted for. Don't want to tip twice!

It depends on what the contract includes. E.g my catering/venue already factors that in.
