Vendor Thank You ideas?

Brooklynbride, on January 24, 2016 at 2:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

The wedding is over and the dust has cleared. I'm finally getting back into the groove, and wanted to gift something nice to our vendors (venue, caterer, florist) as a thank you for what an amazing job they did to send along with a thank you card. Did anyone else do this? What did you gift? Thanks in advance for helping with ideas!!!!

Any vendor will tell you that a well written, detailed review is the best gift ever, and it looks like you've done that!

    You rock!

I reviewed my vendors, and also sent an additional check (gratuity) to my officiant to say thank you for a fabulous job!

@Anna, did you also give them gratuity during the wedding day ( after the reception ) or was it only when you sent the thank you after the wedding date? I was under the impression we should do the gratuity on the day (we were thinking a card with money) but recently someone said that's not really the case anymore. That person got married 8 months ago so I'm not sure if it's a new tradition to send a gift after the fact.

For caterers I did it the day of, for photography and DJ I did it after--- photography when I received the photos. Our officiant was a family friend doing it as our wedding gift.

Edible arrangements? Bottle of wine? I was thinking of doing this for someone who I probably won't tip- the venue coordinator (in addition to a review).

After the wedding we sent thank you cards with a tip. The same vendors sent me online review forms and i filled them out with positive feedback.

@Annakay and Imtheone4him, how long after the wedding did you send the thank you cards with the tip/gift? I'm thinking about doing this rather than tipping day of.

@nowaseptmrs Good to know! I'm pleasently surprised that wedding day isn't mandatory. Since your officiant is a friend doing this as a gift, are they just going to get a thank you card? I'm assuming yes? Our friend is the officiant for ours and isn't doing it as the gift (she's already told us she plans on getting us a specific and sentimental item) have to figure out the etiquette in terms of thanking them.

Personally, I would tip people after the fact if you're planning on it; think about how it ACTUALLY went and then make that decision.

Dj, officiant and photographer were all friends and I've gifted them more personal things pre-wedding as a thank you. @Celia didn't even think about the reviews being a gift, but I suppose they don't go unnoticed. Is tipping extra after the fact weird? Thanks again all!

If you want to tip extra after the fact, maybe in the card you could say that you and new spouse were talking about how wonderful the day was and what an important role said vendor played in making it so wonderful, so you wanted to send an little something extra.

One of my couples gave me clock (I married them and did a vow renewal on their first anniversary).

    Ditto on the reviews thing.

I've received some cool personalized gifts like a "Keep Calm I'm A Wedding Planner" tshirt, and an engraved business card holder. Thank you notes always mean a lot (I save them all). No one's ever gone wrong, with me at least, with a starbucks gift card. I take most of my meetings at Starbucks cuz it's comfortable, yummy, and has free wifi Smiley smile
